GG-buffon
I read the manual, it suggests regular fuel(87 octane) is fine, but "recommends" 91 octane. I have read and most likely over-read too much info online, because of that now i am a little overwhelmed by so much information. I.e. price differnce/ savings, pinging, power difference from 0 - 60mph from an idle position, etc, etc. Would appreciate any advice, preference, etc with regards to which fuel type best suits the edge sport. Waldo
Premium will give you a couple extra HP that you will likely not even notice and will not improve your fuel economy enough to justify it's extra cost.

Ā This. ^^^ Ā It has to do with what they use for the official published ratings.

nickf1011
I've run nothing but 87 in my '11 Sport since the day I bought it. Seems to perform just fine.
omar302
I think the "91 octane" recommendation refers to the 2.0 engine. Ā From the 13' owners manual: Ā Octane Recommendations 3.5L/3.7LV6 engines Regular unleaded gasoline with a pump (R+M)/2 octane rating of 87 is recommended. Somestations offer fuels posted as Regular with an octane rating below 87, particularly in high altitude areas. Fuels with octane levels below 87 are not recommended. Ā 2.0LV6EcoBoostĀ®engine Ā Regular unleaded gasoline with a pump (R+M)/2 octane rating of 87 is recommended. Some stations offer fuels posted as Regular withan octane rating below 87, particularly in high altitude areas. Fuels with octane levels below 87 are not recommended. Premium fuel will provide improved performance and is recommended for severe duty usage such as trailer tow.

Ā Yeah, I haven't looked in my manual recently, but unless they changed something, I'm pretty sure the 3.7L is recommended for 87 octane only. Don't think 91 or 93 increase power at all. omar302
Ok, it seems 3.7 Mustang owners (same engine) had the same dilemma, regarding premium fuel and increased performance. Even though the owners manual stated the increased performance for the 5.0 engine and not the 3.7, they apparently found out that the 3.7 does actually benefit from premium fuel. http://m.themustangsource.com/showthread.php?t=487261&styleid=28
