tyler
My beautiful 2012 edge got a ugly crack on the wind shield. so sad. I found a small crack in the upper middle part of windshield 2 days ago. I thought it was not a big deal. However, the crack kept growing and growing in last two days. I could watch it growing very slowly. Now it turns into a big U shape in the upper middle. I didn't see anything hit the windshield. Does anybody have similar experience? Does the warranty cover this kind of damage? Thanks for suggestion! Edited April 21, 2014 by tyler
ls973800
More than likely the crack resulted from a stone chip, rather than a stress fracture. One way to maybe tell is to take a sharp pointed object (paper clip, pencil, etc) and carefully run it over the crack. It will stick or feel funny when it finds where a chip started. Looking closely you will probable see the chip. I don't know if any owner's have had stress cracks starting at the upper middle part. Usually I've read about them starting in a lower corner, or very seldom a top corner. You could also stap at a glass installation shop and see what they say. Good luck
akirby
The dealer will check it and determine if it was a defect or damage. If it's not a defect check with insurance - most plans will cover glass repair with little or no deductible.
