Larry
Rotated my tires for the first time yesterday. While checking things out, I noticed ford put front hubs on the rear or Ford did this just incase the car was ordered with all wheel drive because the rear hubs are splined for a axle. My car is a 2013 Edge Sel FWD. Has anyone else noticed this? Larry Northern, In.

akirby
My guess is it's to accomodate FWD and AWD with the same parts wherever possible.
Waldo
Making a unique rear knuckle is very expensive. It costs less just to give away the splines on FWD vehicles. This is pretty normal practice. Your subframe has all the holes to bolt in the rear differential as well.
Larry
Hey Larry, Have you spoken to your Ford Dealer about this? Let me know. Todd Todd, I'll check with my dealer. After thinking about this I assume they are rear hubs that are splined for all wheel drive. Just as akirby stated. I wouldn't think it would cost Ford anymore to build the cars this way. Could be cheaper by not using different hubs for the FWD model. Larry
