toast1850
Just curious... Is it possible to do a LED Puddle light install/conversion on a SE Edge? My guess is there will be no wiring inside the mirror housing. Appreciate any feedback.
toast1850
Anyone know if this is possible? The year is a 2013.
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Talk to Dan at DayTimeBriteLites, he will quite likely know the answer. I do think there should be wiring that you can tap into fairly easily if you have power mirrors.
toast1850
Thanks WWWPerfA_ZN0W I will try to contact him and find out what he knows. And yes I do have power mirrors.
ls973800
I also belong to some F150 forums, so I hope I'm not confusing what I have read. Some owner's have found the wires inside the mirror that didn't come with factory puddle lamps. You can easily remove your plug on the bottom of the mirror and see if there are any wires there. If you need guidance on how to remove the plug, go to DaytimeBrightLites.com and look at the install pictures or video there. At the top far right of the web site is a click-able Info/Install link. toast1850
Thanks, I did notice a round design on the bottom of the mirror when I took them off previously to paint the caps. I'll check tonight and see if there is any wiring behind them.
toast1850
ls973800 I didn't notice any plastic clip underneath the mirror to remove but I did notice a faint round mold where it looks like I could use a dremel to cut it out. I'm a little nervous to do this. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks
bdevillier19
are you sure it doesn't come out? i looked on my 2012 SE and it looks removable. i'd hate to take a dremel to my mirror to find there was no wires in there. kc300c
I have only heard of SE mirrors having the removable round cover where the puddle light would be. Can you take a picture of the underside of your mirror and either post it here or email it to me? (info@daytimebrightlites.com). If you have the removeable cover then all you have to do is run two conductor wire (18 gauge or larger) from the inside of the car to the mirror. The negative conductor of the wire you ran would connect to a body ground (there is a bolt under the trim near the driver's side door frame near the foot well. The positive wire would then connect to the dome light power wire. (IMPORTANT: always install an inline fuse on the new puddle light positive power wire just before it connects to the dome light power wire. Use a 3-5 amp fuse.) Several of my LED puddle light customers have done this and were very happy with their upgrade.
toast1850
Here is the underside of my mirrors. Sorry for the nasty mirror, I live in OK so its hard to keep her clean. Anyways, it doesn't look like anything can be removed. Maybe Ford changed this on the 2013 model?
