chrs93
IM curious how difficult changing a blown head gasket on a 3.5 2007 ford edge. The shop i normally go to said that it is a very advanced procedure. Im looking for opinions on doing on this motor vs other motors.
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
I think there are a few people on this forum who can answer this question, and I hope they chime in soon. Checking the FSM, I see approximately 120 steps to removing the camshafts, which has to be done prior to removing the heads ("only" 30+ steps more). Not an in-vehicle repair, unlike vehicles of the past.

WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Considering that the move is towards not having user-serviceable parts, not surprising. Here is RepairPal's estimate for this work: RepairPrice EstimateTM $2200 to $2853 Customized for your location How much should I pay? Estimate includes: Labor $1803-$2300 Parts (excludes tax & fees) $397-$553 Parts IncludedEngine Oil/Oil Drain Plug Gasket /Oil Filter/Coolant/Head Gasket Set/Gasket Sealer
chrs93
Do you know if other yrs of the Edge or the Lincoln mdx are direct swaps for the 3.5 motor in the 07 Edge? I can get used motor complete for 1300-1500.
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
I would stick with engines from the 07-10 Edge (no MKX) model years to minimize any installation issues.
