mcali6301
Oil life on my 3.5L engine is at 19% but I do not have time to change it for another week and a half. Would this be okay?
ls973800
How many total miles since the last change? How long ago was the last change. How many miles a week do you drive? I guess my question is how many miles did you drive to get it down to 19%? If your OLM tends to go down about 10% for every 1000 miles, that means you have about 1900 miles left before zero. If you go down 10% about every 500 miles, you have about 900 miles left. The question is almost impossible to answer without knowing your driving habits. You really don't have to change oil until you get to the 5%-0% range.
akirby
Assuming it was reset properly last time, you can go down to 0% and still be relatively safe.
mcali6301
You both already answered my question. Thanks!
omar302
In an ideal case, 100% oil life should be good for 10k miles or 1 year. So as a rough estimate, 19% can get you (ideally) 1900 miles or a little more than 2 months. Edited March 13, 2014 by omar302
