Gil
Does anyone on this forum know the wattage output on the USB port when used as a charger for iPhone, etc.? It has been charging my iPhone fine but just tried to charge iPad and it DOESN'T work. Thought it was possibly the cord so went to purchase a new charger cord from Apple and told the salesperson the problem. He advised the iPhone only needs a 5 watt charger but the iPad needs a 10 watt. Checked owner's manual and did not find any listing of the wattage available from the USB port. With the use of all the electronic now has Ford overlooked this issue? Why have a USB if it is not available for use by all products out there on the market. Specially the popular ones from Apple. WWWPerfA_ZN0W
From your testing, it seems the output is a standard 500mA @ 5V or 2.5W. Which USB port are you using? Tried them all? Either use a power adapter with the lighter port or hardwire your own USB ports for power (on their own circuit, or tapped off the lighter port circuit).
