Volume and Media Buttons Dont Work- Radio wont light up

A relative of mine has recently become the proud owner of a 2008 Ford Edge Limited AWD. After driving it home she realized the radio won't light up and the volume and media buttons on the steering wheel do not work. This vehicle does have sync and these two problems are the only issues. The radio works as does sync...the display screen works but the rest of the radio does not light up at night. Could these issues be related? Is there a possible simple fix or will she need a replacement radio/sync unit?

Check the passenger compartment fuse panel for any blown fuses. You can view the fuse box location and definitions on page 257 of the owner's manual here: http://www.fordservicecontent.com/Ford_Content/catalog/owner_guides/08edgog1e.pdf

Fuse box is on the drivers side.

 

Having problem with the new radio installed on recently purchased 2008. CDs would not load in changer, then got one to load and it would never come out, you could occasionally see on display that player was trying to eject even when engine was off and no key in ignition.

 

Problem is volume +/- and skip forward back (<</>> - not the exact icon) are not working. Just emailed the service guy with the problem.

 

Wondering if it is the wrong radio. A lot of them look alike.
