normcloutier
I have aftermarket HID in my 13 SEL and love them. When driving on real rough roads, I can see the light pattern shaking on the road. No issues with that, just curious if this occurs with factory HID or anyone else's aftermarket ones? candurin
Norm, really the main causes would be loose bulbs (but if I recall you made it quite clear you seated these properly in previous posts), loose o-ring gaskets on the bulb or a loose headlight housing. Is it very drastic? Are you driving on bumpy roads or does it happen on flat, straight roads as well?
normcloutier
It only occurs on very bumpy roads. It occurs on both lamps. I'm thinking it's just the electrodes in the bulb moving ever so slightly due to the vehicle shaking. It's pretty subtle. I can see the beam moving a few inches at the far reach of the headlight pattern. I was just wondering if anyone else's shook a little. Limited59
I believe both of mine have had some movement of the HID beam on very bumpy roads or over sharp bumps. I always attributed it to the sharpness of these types of lights making the movement more visible.
CinnamonEdge
My OEM HIDs are a tad shaky too. but only on jarring bumps. I agree that it is because you have more of bright cutoff line on the HIDs than halogen.
12Edge
The aftermarket bulb portion is installed in a 9006 style base. depending on how it may have wiggle room and this could be what you are seeing. With the whole vehicle moving I am surprised it is discernible.
omar302
My MKX with factory HID also shakes a bit on harsh bumps. But since the MKX has adaptive headlights, I thought that was the reason. I guess, as said before, it's probably normal and we are only noticing it because of the sharp cut off.
