White Letter Tires on Edge?

Recommended Posts

I thought I would repost this in the modification forum since it didn't get much "traction" over in tires and wheels.

My wife and I just bought a leftover black 2013 Edge SE. It has brand new tires and I won't be needing new ones for quite a while, but I have given some thought as to what tires with white letters on them that you see on a lot of SUVs and trucks would look like on a black Edge. I did a google image search but did not find any photos of an Edge with white letter tires. Have any of you done this? Maybe someone with some Photoshop skills could whip something up to see what it looks like. I'm just trying to think of ways to make my Edge stand out from the crowd a little.

What do you guys think?

Matt

@fishx65, haha, yes! Well, being a child of the 80s I guess I can't help it! Although, my other vehicle is a 2005 Super Duty, and I did not want white letter on that. I don't care for them on a nice looking (modern) truck. I don't know yet with the Edge. I'll have to give this some more thought--50,000 or 60,000 miles of thought until these wear out!

As an 80s kid, I totally get the nostalgia for white letters on tires—it’s a classic look. But modern trucks like your 2005 Super Duty can pull off a sleeker vibe without them. With the Edge, you’ve got plenty of time to decide as you rack up those miles!

Oh, let's go whole hog.

Dig this Daddo'O, white wall tires, curb feelers, racoon tail tied to the shark fin antenna, suicide knob, dual glasspacks and a blue dot drilled into the rear brake light lens.

Bitchen, right? Let's agitate the gravel but eyeballs out for the fuzz. Shotgun.

I'm a 50s—60s kid 🙂

Back in '68, I wanted some of those RWLs too. I had a set of Dayton "Wide Ovals" on my 63

Galixie 500. But, they were black letters only. So, I sat down one day with my bottle of Testor's Model Paint

and paint brush. I then made my own Raised White Lettered tires. (RWL in the tire biz)..

Now maybe he'll go for Gangster Wides. But, this thread is only 10 years old.....

My how things have changed.

Oh man, I am almost there also.  At 65 I am still able to grow my hair long (and did), it's just a different color now.  Dammit!  I just need to fire up a doobie and sit back and relax.  Dammit, I can't even do that.  Legally.  Yet.

Don't know why, but your speaking about being an old hippy got me thinking of hippies, which of course led me to think about driving my MKX out west to the hippy community in Jerome, AZ and eating ribs at the Haunted Hamburger.

(Makes perfect sense to me ...)
