toast1850
Hi everyone, I've been thinking about removing the keyless entry keypad above the door handle on my Edge to paint it because it's textured black. I would assume I would need to remove the inner door panel first to gain access? Does anyone have any knowledge how to do this? Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks
ls973800
Sorry I am just replying to your post and question now. Looks to be a very simple job, no interior door panel removal. Copied from my 2013 service manual for the Edge. Item Part Number Description 1 — Keyless entry keypad retaining clips (2 required) (part of 14A626) 2 — Keyless entry keypad electrical connector (part of 14631) 3 14A626 Keyless entry keypad 4 W651011 Upper access plug Removal and Installation Remove the upper access plug.Using a suitable tool (such as a long, flat-blade screwdriver), through the upper access hole, release the rear keyless entry keypad retaining clip and position the keyless entry keypad aside.Remove the keyless entry keypad. Disconnect the electrical connector. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Edited January 25, 2014 by ls973800

DKS
It takes a pretty long skinny screwdriver and I took a very small one to slide between the door and the part to put some pressure on it while I was pushing the tab in. It took less than two minutes to do the whole job. My numbers were wearing off and it looked bad. I found the part online in the correct color and it looks much better. trr
My keypad works fine, but has recently come loose in the door. I suspect one or both of the clips broke. Does anyone know if you can just buy the clips? I don't want to spend $100 to replace the unit that works. Thanks!

If it's broken, it probably is the plastic part that the clip goes on, hence you won't be able to put the clip back on. Maybe try to use some double sided tape. As far as I know, the clips do not come separately. Couldn't find them online.
