Darrell GoHard Williams
Ok so i brought a 2008 Lincoln Mkx OEM radio to put in my EDGE , the one that came with my edge did not have a subwoofer input, so i figured there basically the same cars , and same year , so i put it in. The radio sounds amazing , i found out that its a pioneer radio and the amp and sub in the back are audiophile. When i plug it up , nothing happens. The subwoofer has been tested working with a shaker 500 from a 2008 mustang, i didnt keep that one in because the CD player had a problem. =please help , can i make the subwoofer work with the lincoln oem radio? do i have to re-wire the inputs? akirby
so the radio itself is working fine but not the sub? What kind of sub do you have and do you have a separate amp for the sub? Which wires from the head unit are you feeding to the sub/amp?
wannabang
What year/model edge do you own? I have an '08 SEL and, since it came with the amp/sub combo, the stereo had a sub out. It'd make no sense to not include one if they're putting in the speakers. At any rate, I'd say the problem lies within how you wired it or the amp itself. Could be as simple as a bad connection, or as bad as a fried amp.
Darrell GoHard Williams
i own a 2008 ford edge limited it has factory everything , and i have the combo, the lincoln radio has the regular plug and play , everything else is fine , but the subwoofer wont come on, and i checked the fuse

b1gbleu
Did you have the sub working with the original radio? I know on my old pioneer and new Kenwood there's a menu item to turn it on/off. The Pioneer actually used the rear outputs for the sub also, but you say there's a sub out so that's probably not your case.

wannabang
Check your ground, or the settings on the radio lol. I don't think you're stupid, but I've done that before. lol If I recall correctly, there's two fuses for our radio.
Darrell GoHard Williams
i cheack all fuses, ground is secure , and setting is on max
Darrell GoHard Williams
i mean it was simple the lincoln radio has the same plug ins ( obviously) but when i plug in the sub hookup , nothing happens
akirby
My guess would be a fuse assuming the wiring is really the same.
wannabang
I know pioneer HUs have problems with their inner fusing blowing up. Could it be a fuse within the HU? Maybe don't put your amp settings to max lol. That's never a good idea.
Darrell GoHard Williams
i mean , like i checked the amp and subwoofer fuse , its all good, i cant really adjust the amp , only in the settings on the head unit , but nothing happens,
Darrell GoHard Williams
i have this same HU http://www.motortrend.com/cars/2008/lincoln/mkx/photos/interior/radio.html
Darrell GoHard Williams
could it also be the Stereo Chassis Ground?
akirby
Only if the sub amp has a separate ground from the head unit. Where is the amp for the sub - that's usually separate from the HU. You need to see if the sub amp is getting power or not if it's separate.
Darrell GoHard Williams
the amp and sub is on the passenger side quater panel in the trunk, how can i see if its getting power
Darrell GoHard Williams
I plugged in the shaker 500 to see if the sub turns on an it does , but with the Lincoln radio it's doesn't work
akirby
I plugged in the shaker 500 to see if the sub turns on an it does , but with the Lincoln radio it's doesn't work That probably means the Lincoln head unit isn't using the same trigger wire for the amp to turn it on. Unless you're handy with a voltmeter I'd suggest taking it to a stereo shop. They should be able to fix it by testing the wire signal going to the amp. Darrell GoHard Williams
alright thanks
b1gbleu
So it's time to get to the sub/amp. Make sure there's 12v at the amp when the radio turns on. If there's three wires for power, then there's probably constant 12v and a turn-on lead. I don't have the sub myself or I'd take a look. check this out if it helps http://www.justanswer.com/ford/1df7u-wiring-diagram-factory-amp-goes.html Edited January 25, 2014 by b1gbleu
Darrell GoHard Williams
i found out that the people who sold me the lincoln radio mislead there info , it was for a 2009 not a 2008
wannabang
I really don't think those two years make a difference, though.
