netizenX
Here is a minimaliast vent mount that the spousal unit uses for her iPhone because she perfers the phone on the vent: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D901B4W/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I personally use a RAM mount system that is mounted to the rear view mirror arm and it's very rugged. This mount allows me to use a second phone as a dash cam (along with the iSymDVR app). Here is a side view of the mount: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51Ad0tQNyVL.jpg And here are the parts that I used: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009NROEBM/ref=wms_ohs_product?ie=UTF8&psc=1 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0074WMQLS/ref=wms_ohs_product?ie=UTF8&psc=1 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0055PH0XA/ref=wms_ohs_product?ie=UTF8&psc=1
sixponies
Sorry it took so long, but here are some photos of the KUDA mount installed in my Edge. Edited April 29, 2014 by sixponies
brownel02
Awesome, no worries on the time, Thanks for the pics. That looks like it will work out perfectly for what I want to do. My charger base is a wireless charging unit so I can leave that plugged in and just pop the phone in and out. I am hoping to tuck the wire under this unit to minimize any unsightly wires showing. Thanks again.
sixponies
When I first bought the KUDA mount, I also purchase an "iMega Cradle" to use with it. After I changed my phone case to a Lifeproof case, the iMega cradle was no longer compatible, so I took it off and bought a different holder to use with the KUDA mount. So, I have an iMega Cradle for sale if you're interested. I've linked it below. http://www.kudausa.com/iphone-5--5s-kuda-imega-cradle-for-the-iphone-5-a1066.html PM me if you're interested. sajid.ali
I am using this one. http://www.ebay.com/itm/iOttie-Easy-One-Touch-Car-Mount-Holder-for-Apple-iPhone-5-4-Galaxy-S3-Smartphone-/181286350347?pt=US_Mounts_Holders&hash=item2a35822e0b
mcali6301
I have a KUDA mount. It mounts on the console trim and is encased in leather. Looks great. I also had one on my 2004 Sport Trac. They offer two different ones for the Edge. One mounts down low, and the other mounts up near the MFT screen. I tried the lower one, but it interfered with the cup holder so I exchanged it for the higher one,and love it. I don't have any pictures right now, but you can check them out at the link below: http://www.kudausa.com/kuda-custom-leather-mounts/ford/edge-since-2011-k686.html Also, are you using an iPhone 5? If so, I've got a mount from KUDA for the iPhone 5 for sale that goes with the piece above if you're interested. See the link below for info on this mount: http://www.kudausa.com/iphone-5--5s-kuda-imega-cradle-for-the-iphone-5-a1066.html I was looking at these and seems like the actual cradle is sold seperately? the mount is $66 and then the cheapest cradle for the S4 I saw was $109...Am I missing something here?? Also, how simple is it to slide off that side piece?

Also, how simple is it to slide off that side piece? You can get one of the universal cradle like this one for $16.99. It mounts right to the KUDA mount. http://www.kudausa.com/universal-passive-medium-holder-for-iphone--ipod--zune--pda--gps-a856.html As for the side trim piece, just pull gently but firmly and it will pop right out. sixponies
Thanks! And then you tape the cradle to the mount? Seems weird.. Yes, the cradle attaches to the mount with double-sided 3M tape. It attaches very firmly, and won't come off unless you want it too. I've used these mounts both in my '04 Sport Trac, and now my '11 Edge. Love 'em! mcali6301
Thanks! Sounds like they are worth the money. Just scared to pop that side piece out and break it, they make it look so easy to do in the instructions.
sixponies
You're welcome. Yes, in my opinion, they are well worth the money. They're very easy to install (usually five minutes or less), and they have a very professional, clean, almost factory look. Go for it, and let us know how it turns out. PrinzII
I still have the Samsung mount but there's an S5 in the S4's place. I failed to mention that I also use my mount for in-car video and photography.
Hkyfan
I have this holder. After doing through MANY this is the very best. It is strong and the magnet that get stuck to the phone actual aids in holding it. You will not be disappointed.

arabski
In case anybody wondered if InfiniApps holder would work with Sony radio - the short answer is NO due to a cd hole offset... ...but it works great in my wife's GTI (yet I'm looking for another smartphone/tablet holder)
bce
In case anybody wondered if InfiniApps holder would work with Sony radio - the short answer is NO due to a cd hole offset... ...but it works great in my wife's GTI (yet I'm looking for another smartphone/tablet holder) I'm not sure why it doesn't work. The Mountek I have works fine. I have to use to "upside down" to keep phone away from the MFT screen, but it works just fine.
ls973800
I have this holder. After doing through MANY this is the very best. It is strong and the magnet that get stuck to the phone actual aids in holding it. You will not be disappointed. I was about to order the Kuda mount and holder for my Galaxy S4 but really couldn't justify over $125.00 after shipping for the two pieces. I saw this post and started looking at the Steelie mount, which I found on Amazon for just under $25.00 with free shipping. I then read some of the reviews, and common complaints were that the adhesive failed often in high heat. I live in the Dallas area so that is a concern. There were also reports of the magnet actually interfering with the internal motherboard of the phone and the GPS. Makes sense since electronics and magnets usually don't play well together. Other comments were about putting the phone in a pocket once the magnet is attached to the phone. The end result was some owner's having their credit card, debit cards, hotel key cards, etc wiped clean because of the magnet. It was also noted the base is best if it is placed on a flat surface, not a vertical one. If used on a vertical surface, you have to make sure you place the magnet on the balance point or center of gravity on the phone. Otherwise, the phone will not hang straight, or you can not turn it for landscape view without it moving during normal driving. If placed on a flat surface, you are limited with the angle that the phone will rotate or stand. I guess for under $25.00 it may be an option. I'm not sure if possible damage to the phone, or limited placement of the base, is worth it. I might just continue using the large cup holder to house the phone, that's been the cheapest phone holder I've found so far!
mcali6301
I have been using this since day one and works great for price. The rubber grips on the inside of the clamp is starting to wear a little but still works great, I'd honestly buy another one if this one completely wore out. It also comes with an attachment to attach to the vent, which is how I use it. It does not affect the AC and keeps my phone cool! https://www.google.com/shopping/product/11773436096275797569?q=Rocketfish+phone+cradle&rlz=1C1GGGE___US575US575&espv=2&bav=on.2,or.r_cp.r_qf.&bvm=bv.71198958,d.cGU,pv.xjs.s.en_US.Q6Wr7PNt2sw.O&ion=1&biw=1483&bih=795&tch=1&ech=1&psi=lgHHU4TNM8fwoATzvoGgBw.1405550998341.5&ei=qgHHU6b6HpHvoATK5IGIAw&ved=0CP0DEKYrMAA Edited July 16, 2014 by mcali6301
rogersmj
I have the ProClip for my wife's Edge -- it works great. It's our "long trip" vehicle, so I need a phone to show me Google/Apple maps nav and be positioned well, AND hold a charging cable so the phone doesn't drain. It was about $100 for both the vehicle-specific mount and the iPhone-specific mount (which holds an OEM Apple lightning cable firmly at the bottom, so you can just drop the phone in), but it was worth it. I got the one that positions the phone just to the right of the steering wheel, which I like better than the KUDA options that put the phone on the opposite side of the center stack. I also like that it all is put together with screws that you can use to adjust the tightness of the phone clamp and rotator ball -- no adhesive necessary.
