Rondo1
Hey Guys, I was just wondering if anyone has considered or successfully implemented adding automatic (or manual) pop-out venting feature to rear quarter panel windows in the 2011-2013 Ford Edge? I would absolutely LOVE this mod, but can't find any kind of kit or anything to even consider it. So now I'm turning you guys - the one who will know if this exists or not. Please advise. Thanks, Ron
akirby
I think I've seen Chip Foose build them from scratch. That would be really cool and really really really expensive. I don't think you can modify the existing windows (tempered glass?) - you'd probably need to build a replacement window out of plexiglass with the vents added. Seems like a lot of work - what's the motivation? Is it just for ventilation with the windows down?
Rondo1
No real motivation other than the coolness factor and THEN on top of that would provide better ventilation for my dog in back when he's with me. It would be great to pop out the rear quarter panel windows with the top open or even with the rear windows cracked a bit. Am always surprised how this once common feature hasn't continued into today's SUVs.
akirby
Or being able to roll down the rear hatch glass........
wannabang
Maybe I'm the minority, but I've never really cared whether it's on the car or not, but like the mechanics not being on the window, and if it reduces cost, I'm all for giving it up. lol Good luck with finding a solution! Platinum White
I had a 1999 Eddie Bauer Expedition that had the rear panel opening feature. I really liked it. Maybe you could find the hardware in a salvage yard.
