EspoMan
Hello guys. Quick question. Is there a way to know if my Edge SE came with a cabin air filter without having to remove the glove box? Like via the VIN or something? If mine doesn't have one , I'd like to install one. Thank you
ls973800
I looked on the Ford website to see standard equipment on the various Edge models. Only the SEL and Limited have the particulate cabin filter included. The SE did not. I didn't look at the Sport model. This was for the 2014 models. I would guess you do not have one but the only way to find out for sure is to look at the window sticker or behind the glove box. Not that hard at all to lower the glove box to look. EspoMan
Thank you. If I don't have one installed, is it easy to just pop one in or do I have to do some cutting to install it? I had a Mitsubishi that had the compartment for it, but I had to do some cutting to get access to it. Thanks edit: Can you please recommend which one is the best filter to get? I'd like to get the best possible one since I have really bad allergies. Thanks again Its the MOTORCRAFT FP-65 Cabin Air Filter ? ls973800
Here is a link to a topic about various filters other owners have used. I replied in post #22 about the inexpensive charcoal impregnated filters I purchased from Rock Auto. Others have used them also with good results, no complaints. Various prices and part numbers are also listed for other brands and types, including the Motorcraft ones. Post #24 has someone replacing the factory wire mesh screen with a paper filter. Perhaps you have just the wire mesh screen now which can be replaced. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/10279-charcoal-air-cabin-filter/?hl=%20cabin%20%20air%20%20filter
EspoMan
Thank you. Just read it. So it appears that from those posts its fairly easy to remove the mesh screen and put in the air filter. I just ordered it from Amazon for $15.
