WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Did they say how long the repair is covered (independent of the 100K warranty)?
Stephanie Dries Russell
I am having the same issue and when I took today it in they said it was not under warranty because I had 41k miles already.

12Edge
Went in to the garage the other night and when I opened the door the lights didn't come on. Weird I thought so I closed and re-opened and they came on. Then I left work yesterday and the bell kept going off and the car was saying the driver door was ajar when it wasnt. I put two and two together and realized that that is why the lights wouldnt come on the day before, because the battery saver kicked in and shut the car down. I got home and when I opened the door the chime was dinging repeatedly. Same for when I got in again later last night but not when I got back home or this morning?! WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Check the ignition key/switch. That, on older models at least, has been known to cause the incessant chiming. Car thinks the key is still in ignition at that point.
kc300c
Been having the door ajar issue for about a week now. Have to keep closing the door a couple of times to get the warning to disappear.
MickeyCondon
Did you report it to Ford yet? I posted instructions on a similar name Topic. (sorry I don't have time to find it right now) I really think if enough people complain we could get it covered under warranty and some people would be able to get reimbursed. Good luck

Why are so many door latches malfunctioning? What is ford doing about it? 40K miles, just out of warranty and BOOM $120 part failure.

coeperc
Have the same problem on my 2012 SE, 28,700 miles. I'm going to the dealer tomorrow to have them look at it. This is a problem that Ford needs to recall. Edited May 27, 2014 by coeperc
sajid.ali
Same problem came to my edge-2013 @25000km, changed by dealer under warranty.
fishx65
If ya look at some of the comments below kkrace's youtube video it sounds like Ford now has some way of cleaning the latch with a special tool. Could be BS but maybe worth investigating. Putting a new latch in does not look that bad if you have a little mechanical ability.
fatlube
2013 Driver door ajar and as we are driving display also reads shift to park. Turns out 2 seperate problems and here I thought the car was telling me to pull over, shift to park and close door. Both problems taken care of by Dealer. replaced latch for door and misc adjustment for shifter. 100.00 deductible.
PrinzII
My 2011 had the door latch issue that was prevalent in Gen 1.5. Dealer replaced under warranty both times.
samdamico
both my doors had the problem, dealer wouldn't cover it. I tied both door trigger wires to ground (Green purple on the left and White for the passenger side). Problem is gone.
