JETZ
I'm running a set of 2011 22'' Sport wheels on my Ex, and the wheels leak. Once a week I have to check the tires and add air, there is also a TSB on this problem. I also have a set of 2012 22'' Sport wheels still in the boxes. What I want to know is if anyone with the 2012 22'' Sport wheels is also having the leaking issues? 2012 wheels
Hollywood1
No leaks at all. Check to make sure that your o-rings in the tire pressure sensors are not over tightened. When wheels are swapped the "tire pros" tend to over tighten them and they leak. One quarter turn past finger tight, with a dab of red loc-tite. If you have band sensors, have the tires removed and re-seated, ask them to use a little extra tire bead wax (the stuff they smear to help the machine).
JETZ
My 2011 Wheels were new car take offs, so w/t are factory original. Like in my other post, there is a TSB on the leaking problem with these wheels, and wondered if the newer black spoke wheels had the same issues before I mount them on tires. No leaks at all. jonwet
Hello, I just purchased a 2007 edge and I was wondering if you would be interested in selling the wheels you are taking off? Thanks Jon
ls973800
Hello, I just purchased a 2007 edge and I was wondering if you would be interested in selling the wheels you are taking off? Thanks Jon Remember that the 2011 and newer wheels have a smaller hub opening than the 2010 and older Edge wheels. If you are thinking of putting these on your 2007, you would have to have the centers machined in order to fit your larger hub. If you are putting them on a 2011 or newer, they would be a direct bolt on.
JETZ
Paying for shipping wheels/tires cross country would be cost killer for you. You would be better off finding a set local to you. Frank Hello, I just purchased a 2007 edge and I was wondering if you would be interested in selling the wheels you are taking off? Edgieguy
I continue to have leaking tire syndrome with my 2011 Sport 22's. Actually its been at the dealer for the past week with this problem, and its the third time. last time they told me they couldnt reproduce the problem and that I had a nail in one tire. This only 2 days after they said they had all 4 tires off, cleaned oxidation off the wheels and sanded the rubber whiskers left over from the tire manufacturing process. Ive asked twice for them to just replace the wheels as per their own TSB instructions, yet they refuse. In my case its all 4 wheels.

What do you mean by newer black spoke wheels? They look exactly the same as the 2011's?

Edgieguy
Oh. You actually have 2009-2010 Sport wheels on your Explorer and 2011 Sport wheels in the box. Your 2011 Sport wheels will most likely leak, as I explained, my Edge in in the shop for them to address this for the 3rd or 4th time. MrHappy
They need to perform the updated TSB which includes the original (deep cleaning) as well as applying some goo/sealant to the tire and rim before remounting. Ours has been ok for about a year after this 2nd TSB was done. Limits getting tires replaced at Ford though which isn't a real fix IMO but then again lots of things on this vehicle haven't been properly corrected IMO despite the dealer trying.
