FordFan4life
If anyone could help me out with this i would greatly appreciate it! I'm trying to figure out if ill need to opt for an aftermarket alarm Vs.the stock system when i get my 2013 Limited. According to the owners manual If the system is triggered or set off all that happens is the horn will sound a total of 10 times.. THAT'S IT..Seems pretty pointless to design a car alarm to sound for 10 SECONDS.. You have perimeter alarm system IF you have the push button starting package..The system monitors Doors, Hood, rear hatch for unauthorized entry after locking the vehicle (after a 20 second pre-arming delay) In other words if someone reaches in through an open window & opens a door the alarm is triggered.. Has Anyone armed it and set it off?? I'm curious to know if Ford really designed the security system To Blast the horn 10 times and call it quits.. Directly from the owners manual: "ANTI-THEFT ALARM (IF EQUIPPED) The system will warn you of unauthorized entry to your vehicle. The turn signal lamps will flash and sound the horn up to a total of 10 times when: • any door, the hood or the luggage compartment is opened without using the keypad, the remote control or the intelligent access transmitter (if equipped) • the ignition is turned on with an invalid key" Edited November 18, 2013 by FordFan4life
omar302
I tried it on my car. ('11 MKX). But to be honest, the alarm (Horn) is very loud that I never waited for it to horn 10 times. In my opinion, the Alarm is plenty high to draw attention & scare off an intruder. If the 10 Honks were not sufficient to call attention, it means your car is probably in an area were even a longer Alarm period won't help. For the other part, yes, opening the door from the inside while a window is open will trigger the alarm. Unfortunately though, there is no shock or window-break sensors.

Right, I do agree with you on that one. Some of the areas/ramps i have to leave my vehicle aren't horrible but i feel if a thief were to attempt a break in they would just open the door and wait the 10 seconds for the system to timeout on its own..I'm not saying i want my alarm blaring for half an hour (like some alarms do) However on my escape the timeout is 60 seconds and i feel that's just enough to draw attention to the vehicle without draining the battery. .Thank you for checking on that though.
