IXIVI
Finally got around to installing the Gunmetal TSW Nurburgrings (24.5 lbs!!). 295/40/20 Falken Azenis 453CC weigh in at 36. Factory Sport 22s tip the scales at 84 lbs.... Total weight savings of 24 lbs on each corner. For the wheel weight savings naysayers? +3 MPG. Butt dyno is marginal. The suspension however, is phenomenal. The ultra light weight wheels coupled with the H&R springs act x10 out on the road. The Edge litteraly glides around now. The reduced weight seems to go a long way in helping the shocks keep the wheels and tires planted to the road.... Edit: can't post from photo bucket on my nexus. Uploading now. WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Lookin' good! Better ride AND mileage, can't beat that Aren't those tires a bit wide, though? How do they sit? IXIVI
Lookin' good! Better ride AND mileage, can't beat that Aren't those tires a bit wide, though? How do they sit? They are a little wide, sure. But that was the idea. If I went with 20s, they had to be meaty and have a taller sidewall than the 265/40 of the factory so they would still the fill out the wheel well. The 295/40 brings the overall diameter right up to the size of the factory wheels as well, so the speedo isn't affected much. I'll take a closeup when I get a chance, but they only stick out about a .25" further than the OEM sport wheels/tires. They look great. wannabang
They do look great and they fill out the wheel well extremely well. Very nice!
MickeyCondon
How much did that combo set you back?....if you don't mind me asking?
IXIVI
How much did that combo set you back?....if you don't mind me asking? TSW Nurburgrings are anywhere from $1200-1500 depending on where you buy them. Discount Tire Direct is selling the 295/40/20 453CC for $150 each right now, so $600 on those. $1800 before mount and balance, and not counting the springs or the alignment...
IXIVI
Drove around a bit yesterday, and I had to report back with more news on these wheels. Butt dyno is no longer marginal. Kickdown acceleration, from 6th to 4th, or from 4th to 2nd saw a HUGE, HUGE improvement. So much so that my wife even noticed.... she asked like a smart ass "what did you do now, its faster than I remember" Braking also saw a massive improvement. I no longer feel like I'm towing boat when I try to stop. Braking is much more balanced and tight. So far, its all good news from the weight savings! Eatinitup
Great looking Rim!! And not a bad price.. I did the 22x9.5 TSW Snettertons on my Edge wrapped with Yokohoma Parada Spec-X's and I love them. Paid right at like 2,300$ from Discount Tire for everything out the door, including warranty on the Tires!

They look good, but I was moving away from the 22s all together, and once I was set on the Nurburgrings all bets were off. The more I drive with them, the more I really appreciate the weight savings. The look is really growing on me too. The flat gunmetal offset against the white platinum pearl of the Edge really pops. I'm going to spend a few hours cleaning up, polishing and waxing this weekend and then I will get more pics up...

Edgieguy
Awesome! They look great and I was wondering about the MPG and performance gains, good to know. Thanks for sharing
kfielder
Did you have to do any modifications to your vehicle to make these rims and tires fit ok? (outside of having to lower with the spring kit). Did it rub anywhere? Please let me know as I am really interested in doing this to my Edge. kirk.fielder@att.net or text me 913-485-1773. Thank's! Also, are the wheels a +40 offset?
Robbie Ellis
I know this post is old, but I just stumbled across it today. I have been looking into lowering my Edge and building a custom set of wheels for it. I saw yours, and thought it looked pretty good, but was curious what the Edge would look like if it was even lower, so I photoshopped it. haha. Just thought since I spent the time to do it, I would share it with you as well.

White never looked that good to me before. I weighed my Appearance Package 20" wheel/tire combo last night and was pleasantly surprised to find it was only 64.5 lbs. Going by the tire weight listed on Tire Rack for my Scorpions of 32 lbs. that means my wheels are 32.5 lbs. The Nurburgring 20"x 8.5" weigh 23lbs. That makes a difference of 9.5 lbs. per corner of my stock combo, not sure it's worth the $1400, though I love the look, though if I can sell my Appearance Pack wheels for descent money it might work out.
