OverHeight
Hi, Just got a used 2013 Sport for my wife. Although we don't get much snow here in Vancouver, we do want the ability to travel north where winter tires are a must IMHO. I have an extra set of the sport wheels (long story) and would like to mount winter tires, but can't seem to find anything to fit. Alternatively I would buy steel wheels and winter tires. To keep the sportiness of the Sport I would prefer to stick to the biggest wheel possible, say 20". As for the tires, as we get primarily rain all winter, I would want something that is good in wet weather. Any recommendations for these conditions for wheels & tires? Thanks! WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Do you have AWD/FWD? Since rain is your main concern, you should be looking for good all-season tires, then you don't have to change your wheel/tire setup any time of year, unless you like running ultra high performance summer tires at any point. Tirerack.com has a ratings guide that is fairly accurate, and that would be a good start. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/SelectTireSize.jsp?autoMake=Ford&autoModel=Edge+Sport&autoYear=2013&autoModClar=AWD Also, http://www.tirerack.com/tires/surveyresults/surveydisplay.jsp?type=CSTAS Whatever size of wheel you choose, you have to choose the appropriate tire to maintain the various aspect ratios. Tirerrack will point that out also, if you input your vehicle. If you want a tire sizing calculator, http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html is one of the popular sites used. HTH. OverHeight
Hey HTH, thanks for the attempt to help, but as I clearly stated, I want WINTER tires for travel north of here where they are required. The Sport comes with 22" wheels and tires that I don't want to run in the winter. I have no problem switching back and forth. Thanks for the help with aspect ratio as well, totally understand that stuff. Already looked at tireack, they only offer 17" & 18" options. I would prefer 20" as previously stated to keep the sportiness. Again I'm looking for replacement WINTER wheels and tires to fit my wife's 2013 SPORT AWD. WWWPerfA_ZN0W
One last attempt to be helpful: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/surveyresults/surveydisplay.jsp?type=W&VT=LT&width=245%2F&ratio=50&diameter=20&tireSearch=true&filter=y&autoMake=Ford&autoYear=2013&autoModel=Edge+Sport&autoModClar=AWD They basically have 2 tires for the 20" wheels for winter. Bridgestone seems to have the edge overall.
OverHeight
Thanks, but I still need winter wheels for those tires. Has anyone on here bought 20" winter wheels for their edge?
bentz6
your best bet is pick up a set of 20" wheels from kijiji that come stock on a limited if thats what you want, your winter tires are not going to be cheap tho. I have a 2013 sport also, i picked up some 18's off kijiji from a 2008, i put a set of bridgestone blizzak dmv-1 tires on it and also added the correct tire pressure sensors for the 2011+. The tires, balancing, and tpms when all said and done ran me 1350. The 18's ran me 400. The only thing you need to do to make the 18's fit the 2011+ model is get a set of hub centric rings to fit the smaller hub. IMO its cheaper to go with the 18's, i bought myself some plastidip and am going to spray the wheels black, so it should look fairly decent with the black grill on the sport and all. good luck
