I too wasn't satisfied with the light output of my original 6k kit. I ended up going with the 55w 5k kit from DDM with a morimoto harmess and it's perfect! Soooooo much bright white light! Remember if you go 55w it will burn brighter so the 5k will look almost like the 4300. Mine is super white with a hit of blue only on the very top before the cutoff.

So im about to order my kit from ddm, 55W 5000k, so ive got a few questions like you Msl558. It asks for the mounting brackets, hid harness, error eliminator and adapter cables. Ive read the brackets are no need to buy, but im wondering about the harness and error eliminator? Ive read some people say yes and some say no so im confused. I just wanna make sure I get what I need the first time and dont have to order more and wait longer than necessary, thanks.

I have a 35w Morimoto 4300k kit from TRS and I get flashed by people thinking I have my high-beams on (obviously I don't). And they are aimed exactly how the halogens were.

I went with the wiring harness as well. I'm from Canada so I had to have Ford re-program my DRL to my turn indicators with their IDS.

You do NOT need the error eliminator. But you do want a wire harness if you go with 55w Ballasts. Do yourself a favor and get a quality harness (TRS makes a great one). I had the ddm harness and it melted in the first 2 weeks of use.

I'm getting a 55w ballast and according to our ford tech here at work i can do both with or without. The harness will definately help to stabilize the currents. but i will order a harness tonight. Also the tech told me that there should be no issues at all with out a harness, but nolt convince... still will install a harness. :victory:

Let's not make the exceptions the rule. If you gloss over a few years of posts, you'll see many HID adopters suffer from flickering, uneven firing, "Auto" mode issues, etc. They have all been resolved with a wire harness.

A few of us (myself included) have had crappy harnesses melt on us (*cough* DDM), so you want to be diligent in your selection.

Some users have gone as far as wiring in capacitors for an extra boost during warm-up.

You may get by without one just fine, but that certainly doesn't eliminate the strong recommendation to use one.

But your "ford tech" said they would be fine!

I've said it many times, get a QUALITY kit with a QUALITY harness and you'll be fine.

Glad to hear everything is ok and you and the edge are safe.

P.S. my ddm wire harness melted after a few days. That's why I swapped everything over to TRS (morimoto).
