hipo giddyup
Hi All, I am in the position to get new tires for my 2008 Edge, SEL AWD. I have the factory Michelin Latitude HP's on them with 53,000 miles. So far I have been very pleased with them and would not have a problem getting the same tire. But, my local tire shop I deal with and trust, says that they recommend the Michelin LTX M/S for the Edge and that they have frequently seen 65,000 + miles out of them. When I do my research, I find that they appear "better" rated on the Michelin website but they are intended for Light truck use and the site actually redirects me to the Latitude HP's. Anyone using these tires? Any pros or cons compared to the Latitude HP's? The tire shop also said I can be saving $17 per tire going with the LTX's over the Latitudes but I would hate to suffer from a louder or poorer ride. I am not upset with the aspects of the Latittudes. Also, I definitly want to stay with Michelins as they have always been a great quality, long lasting tire, with no issues. Thanks for all you advice!
ls973800
Try checking Tirerack.com and seeing what their test results show. They have some great reviews by owner's, including an option where you can check reviews for your specific vehicle. Granted there may be limited results for a 2008 Edge SEL AWD, but other reviews for other vehicles should give you a very good idea about the tire. This link shows the Michelin tires available which have owner reviews. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/reviews/brands.jsp?tireMake=Michelin
akirby
I've had both although the LTX was on an explorer. I think you'll get better mileage with the latitudes but they're both good tires.
carbonedge+
I've had both although the LTX was on an explorer. I think you'll get better mileage with the latitudes but they're both good tires. Ditto here on the LTXs; were on a 97 Explorer, went through 2 sets before getting rid of it. Had the same tire on a 95 F150 as well. Definitely a good tire! When I do my research, I find that they appear "better" rated on the Michelin website but they are intended for Light truck use and the site actually redirects me to the Latitude HP's. ...but I would hate to suffer from a louder or poorer ride This is why I did not consider it for my Edge but I have heard of others that put them on. I can't speak to how much difference there is in road noise between to the LTX or the Latitudes, but I don't recall my LTXs being loud. I've been running Toyos on my Edge since the OE Continentals wore out. I went with the Open Country HT, then the Versado CUV, and now back with the Open Country HT (wish I had stuck with them the second time...) Cyberdave
I have the same Michelin's on my 2013 Edge SEL AWD and I was pleasantly surprised to see how well they did in the snow in the snow storm we just had. (Just got the car a month ago.)
