WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Bought these LEDs http://www.ebay.com/itm/2x-Newest-42mm-5W-CREE-LED-Bulbs-Car-Interior-Dome-Map-Lights-211-212-578-579-/111180255170 for the rear dome and cargo lights. Straightforward install compared to the front map lights. Tilted the switch-controlled rear dome lights forward to light more of rear seats. That part is an experiment in progress More images in gallery. Edited October 29, 2013 by WWWPerfA_ZN0W
dugster
Dingo's photos are crazy. I love the reverse HID. I know my capabilities and it makes me nervous getting in there and wiring and adding. UGH Thanks for sharing everyone, great ideas.
gmfranco88
Excellent Post! Just purchased a 2014 Ford Edge Sport and found this very helpful while researching the best LED lighting options for the interior. Thank You.
46stanger
Great info, I've noticed most are saying vleds, dtbl and epanda from ebay. I was curious if anyone has tried the premium interior package from ijdmtoy? I figured I'd take the package route instead of individually trying to get/figure which lights I need from these other sellers. Just needed some input if anybody has actually used them, and has any input that could help to buy them or steer away from them and keep looking. Thanks guys. http://store.ijdmtoy.com/Premium-SMD-LED-Car-Interior-Lights-Package-For-p/smd-ford-edge.htm#des
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
ijdmtoy is a good vendor IME. Good quality, sometimes have coupons, just not the brightest offerings.
candurin
Don't forget diode dynamics. Just picked up my replacement switchbacks from them and couldn't be happier.
46stanger
Thanks guys, one last question about the link I provided. I'm assuming '07-'10 edges interior lights are the same as '11-'14 since the buying trim option is only '07 and up. (5 lights)
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
One of the best ways to check: http://www.sylvania.com/en-us/applications/automotive-lighting-systems/Pages/lrgmain.aspx 2007 Edge 2011 Edge If you have OEM halogen on your Edge (not HID), looks like the same lighting for the dome (578/42mm festoon), not so sure on map lights (2825 vs 3886x), though I do know they are both T10-based bulbs, so you should be OK. Nothing beats pulling out the actual bulb though, as there are always running changes in production, and your Edge may be the odd "man" out. Hey Candurin, Do you still get the erratic switchback behavior with these bulbs as you did before? I know we were both posting about the same issue where they would flash white them switch to amber sporadically when the turn signal was on. -Russ Edited February 12, 2015 by RustyEdge
candurin
Nope. Zero issues with the new ones. My original VLED ones went erratic, the eBay ones I then tried eventually failed (never erratic, but the Amber LEDs went on one bulb). I have high hopes these will last. RustyEdge
Awesome, I might have to make the switch too. Did you go with the HP24 version? Just wondering how bright these were compared to the VLED ones.
candurin
Yes, I got the HP24. They are considerably brighter than the vleds. I waited until they had a 20% off and snagged them for $40 or so. I'm very happy with them. They do seem the best built (aluminum). I'll report back if they ever fail. protour73
There are so many threads on interior LED swaps with so many variations, here's my low budget practical solution with great results. All were ordered through Amazon, I am a PRIME member so I got free 2 day shipping - Total $26.00 invested.....YMMV The results were great, intensity/color was consistent across all bulbs. There is a slight white/blueish tint, but exactly what I would expect from a "white" LED. When replacing all bulbs, remember these bulbs do have a correct polarity to them. So if you install a bulb and it does not light, remove it, flip 180° and reinstall. Check this by plugging in each assembly BEFORE complete reassemby and then finding out you have a bulb that won't light. - Front Map lights were very easy to remove and replace pulling from the rear of the entire assembly. - 2nd row map/dome assembly can be removed by carefully pulling down from each side of the lens. When installing the 42mm Festoon bulbs, first remove the incandescent bulbs, squeeze the 2 prongs of both sides of the bulb holder together and these bulbs will not be loose as some folks have experienced. - License Plate are quite easy, there is a small tab you push in on the lens and the assembly pops right out for my 2013 Limited: ------------------- Front Map lights - http://www.amazon.com/Classy-Autos-Reverse-Backup-Lights/dp/B0063JGFRY (a pair) 2nd Row Map/Dome lights & Cargo Light - http://www.amazon.com/Cutequeen-Trading-White-Lumens-Festoon/dp/B00NBH6814 (pkg of 4) Rear License Plate lights - http://www.amazon.com/Zone-Tech-5-smd-White-Lights/dp/B0064O0NB2 (pkg of 4) Edited June 14, 2015 by protour73
Brucifer
I'm doubling up my post on my choices for external LED's: Installed these in the front flashers: http://www.ebay.com/...=STRK:MEBIDX:IT Front flashers are great as flashers. Not so great as parking lights. I do have resistors to install which should help with that. Somewhat hyperflashing, but nothing too crazy. Bought the resistors for the flashing, but unknown as yet if I have to double up in the front to get parking lights as well as a slower flash. And these as tail lights: http://www.ebay.com/...=STRK:MEBIDX:IT Tail lights barely fit into red tail cone. Disbursement is still nice as to filling out the reflector. It has a built in heatsink and with the melt hole in the top of the cone, shouldn't have any problem with heat. Reverse: http://www.ebay.com/...=STRK:MEBIDX:IT Not too-too thrilled with the reverse lights. Nice and white, but I have a feeling that the throw is a little vague. I tried the same bulb in the wife's '16 Mazda CX-5 and the stock bulb, though yellow, seemed to have a more direct beam when parked 5 feet from the garage wall. I have a feeling that the same pattern is happening with my Edge. Just too lazy at the moment to do a side-by-side with it. I think I am going to have to find the right bulb because of the dark tint on the windows. Rear Side Marker: http://www.ebay.com/...=STRK:MEBIDX:IT It's a marker light.....it's marking.....

Brucifer
Update on the bulbs: Front ambers are not working as parking lights. Swapped them out with my red rears and the reds would work, other than them being red... Wrote the vendor to see if there was an issue with the amber ones. Did play around a little bit with my resistors. Can't say if they helped hyperflashing, but I don't know if I need to do the rears at the same time. Did find out that the retaining clip on my front flasher is missing, so I'll need to keep that in mind in case it goes out or if I am at the local pin-n-pull. Brucifer
Does anyone have any experience with Pilot LED's? Swore I was going to leave the lights alone, but those little buggers were tempting me at the WalMart with their 'Try Me' button. Installation was easy and I have parking as well as turn lights. Hyperflashing, yes, but I still have two resistors ready to install when I get the gumption. Once I get the resistors in I'll try my hand at soldering again. Understand the principle, but can never get it to flow.
