Chris Wilson
Ok, so I searched just "ipad" and nothing came up so I'll throw it out there..... I'm not sure if any of you have seen Soundman's YouTube channel, but this shop does a TON of ipad installs. I'm nearly positive that this is not going to be something I'm going to try due to the fact that I'm not the most experienced with fiberglassing, however if I can get a hold of another center console dash piece I might :p. What I'd like to do is an ipad mini in the dash and still be able to have the vehicle look as stock as possible when the ipad is out. In addition I need it to look somewhat stock (obviously there will be a lip around what would be the front of the ipad to keep in I the dash) because I still want to get access to the larger factory screen to get to things that I can not access on the smaller screens in the cluster. Have I missed any actual ipad installs in an Edge? On the channel they did a Nexus 7 install that looked pretty good but it didn't have enough of a built in look to me due to the top being exposed. Here's the video:
Cellbine
I actually bought fiberglass material to build a Nexus 7 mount. I have no FG experience, but you can learn a lot form YT. When I finally got my hands on a N7, I was pleased with it but quickly realized that really didn't need it in the car. I live in Germany, so there's really no good way for me to get a data stream to it (I know N7 is wifi only, but I could tether it to my phone). The data plans out here are not unlimited, even thought thats what they state, and connection speeds can be really slow. It would be more of a pain for me to constantly be pulling the tablet in and out of place every time I enter/exit the vehicle. So I returned the tablet within 2 days and didn't even attempt to make the mount. It wasn't worth it to me. I would rather have something seamlessly integrated into the touchscreen like this: AppleTV: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/gallery/image/3286-apple-tv-apps-page-2/ Check out these other threads on the video above: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/11740-nexus-7-tablet-over-myford-touch-screen/?hl=nexus http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/11280-custom-nexus-7-mount/?hl=nexus http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/11045-nice-tablet-install/?hl=tablet

Cellbine
Since they updated their website, they don't advertise it anymore. Someone on this forum actually contacted them and I think they said $700. A ridiculous price. I have contacted them several times with no response. That's why I tried to make it myself. Then reference my post above. Edited July 7, 2013 by Cellbine

Then reference my post above. I see. Well that is pretty poopy that they wont contact people back. I would still rather have an iPad Mini over the nexus 7 but it is still a cool idea. Maybe one day I will get brave and mess with some fiberglass.
Cellbine
It shouldn't be very hard as long as you know the right mixtures. Just make sure you protect your iPad well enough. Blue tape the crap out of it. Some people even wrap their tablets in foil before blue tapping it up. As a tip, I would make a few of the initial molds right off the bat, that way you have backups and don't have to be afraid to see if certain modifications to the mold work the way you think they will. Order your magnets before you begin anything. Can't really make your molds without them as they need to be integrated into the body of the fiberglass. dalbeck
I know this is an old thread but I just discovered it being a new Edge Sport owner, I went back to their site (not sure if these options were there when this thread was active): http://www.soundmanca.com/products/ipad-mini-side-slider-kit Looks like he has a few pre-fab kits ready to go, I am just not 100% sure this would fit the Edge's MFT panel.
