What do you make of this beam pattern?

Recommended Posts

HID retrofit on my Edge Sport. The 2 beam patterns look significantly different. I've modified the bulb so they can be inserted with the wire down (for the most part). I've used 2 different sets of bulbs. the actual light output from the 2 headlights look to be the same but the right looks more focused.

One's higher in the projector. Turn on the high beams. You'll see.

Can you elaborate on this? I installed the bulbs while the headlights were off the Edge and I was able to orientate the bulb with the wire down. They both looked seated correctly. As mentioned in the OP I've had 2 sets of bulbs and ballists in and they both do the same thing. Thats why I'm thinking its a problem with the projector? I turn the high beams on tonight against a wall and the beam pattern looked as you would expect, the right projector still had that strange pattern.

I couldn't really get a great pictures of the brights. I even turned the exposure all the way down. But here it is.

I guess I don't really understand what you mean buy "Ones higher in the projector" They're both seated and oriented the same way. I'm not understanding how this could be.

Thanks for the help!

The bulb isn't seated correctly. The return wires should be other be oriented to the passenger's side of the bulb.

The bulb is seated correctly. I had the headlights out of the car and trimmed the tabs so that when seated and locked, the wire on the bulb is facing down as is the standard on HID installs. But regardless, when I had the wire facing the way it does if you don't trim modify everything the beam pattern is the same. I really thing its a problem with the projector. I swaped around the bulbs and ballast today and the problem remains on the right side. bummer.
