az_edge
I'm thinking of adding a sub from a Limited/sport to my SEL. I like that the enclosure will fit and I can upgrade speaker. It's definitely cheaper than the JL Audio Stealthbox. But what do I do about the gaping hole in my plastic trim piece? Do you guys just glue some mesh to cover it? Anyone have pics of what they did? az_edge
what plastic thing?
ravishingrocket
He prolly means the stock quarter trim from a limited/sport that has the built in grille for the sub. That panel will run you about $250. Or you could do something like this http://www.speakerworks.com/Custom_Steel_Speaker_Grill_Black_p/cg2b.htm Edited June 12, 2013 by ravishingrocket
az_edge
this is when getting a stealthbox makes sense
az_edge
what did you end up doing rocket?
ravishingrocket
I haven't installed anything yet. I will prolly go the route in the link
az_edge
do you guys think the stealthbox is worth the difference in sound quality?
Dingo
That's indeed what I meant, but I was thinking a used one.
PrinzII
az_edge: Unfortunately, everyone is correct. The grille is actually molded into the side panel. Some shops will take care of that for you (e.g. Unique Audio on Elliot) and it probably won't cost an arm and a leg. If you did get a stealthbox, there are some install instructions for Edges without the SW and the way to get what you need for the opening. Double A
Question: I have an SEL as well, can you add a stock sub/amp to the factory head unit? What I mean is, is it plug & play? Is the wiring there for the factory unit regardless of which head unit the vehicle has? Sorry for the repetitiveness, I just wanted to make sure I was clear. Thanks!

For the SEL, you will need an audio processor like the Lc2i. It splices into your speaker wires coming off the head unit. You then plug your amp into the processor
