oskar27
Hey guys, just curious how the heck the Navigation system works. I mean is connected to a satellite every time I drive the truck or what? Seems that she knows where I'm at all times because the screen shows all streets I'm approaching If its connected to a satellite, these things aren't for free and who pays for the connection? Guess I'm missing something?
akirby
It uses GPS satellites to tell exactly where you are in 3 dimensions then overlays it on a stored map. Google GPS and it will explain how it works.
oskar27
I Google it and found that other people pay for the GPS service but not me when I use it in my track I just wonder why
akirby
Nobody pays to use the satellite GPS signal - it's free. You buy the hardware and it works. You may have to pay for new maps occasionally. Maybe you're confusing it with satellite radio (Sirius). That's a totally different signal on different satellites and you do have to pay for that subscription. oskar27
Now I get it, so the signal is free and I only pay for the hardware which in my case are included in the price I paid for my truck I know about the satellite radio which i decline to renew my subscription because I have no use for any radio while I'm driving, prefer to listen music thru my USB Nothing wrong with Sirus radio but I hate subscribing to anything I consider not essential
