Tom Champagne
For all you guys(gals)who have lowered their Edge, which spring do you like best? Any thoughts on replacing shocks while doing this? Any other misc parts need to be changed(spring seat, boot that covers the shock, etc.)? I probably won't do this project until fall,as I know I'll need a 4-wheel alignment, and I'd rather do this with stock wheels(don't trust damaging my new 20's I just bought).BTW car has almost 50K on the clock. Any feedback is appreciated.
Eatinitup
H&R is the only spring out there. Eibach had a spring for a while but they have since pulled it off the market. Steeda reps H&R and they are a very good brand. Many of forum members on here have used the H&R and swear by them. As for the shocks, there aren't any companies who make an aftermarket shock for the Edge. Not enough demand for them. Just use your stock shocks, they work fine and won't bottom out or give you any problems. Some members have even spoken that they don't need the alignment after doing, so you may be fine. Tom Champagne
Thanks for the reply. I thought H&R was my only option, but I'm wondering if I'm going to wear out the shocks(since they have 50K on them). It seems that lowering the car on fresh shocks might last longer than ones that have 50K on them, and I don't believe that factory shocks are the best anyway. autom8r
H&R springs installed at 92k miles. Still on original shocks at 110k miles. No problems yet. Some break-in is required because the springs are really stiff out of the box. In my opinion, the suspension on the Edge is very stout and can take a lot of abuse. Buy new camber bolts, you'll feel better about it. Good luck!
