Sean Forsberg
I recently had a Pioneer AVH-X8500BHS installed in my 2009 Edge using the PAC MS-FRD1 harness and Chrysler Antenna. Following this my AM is almost complete static and FM is a bit spotty. I'm trying to figure out what would cause this and how to correct it. Unfortunately the install guy seems kind of bothered that I expect everything to work as it's supposed to. Any help would be greatly appreciated. wannabang
Crazy! I have the same problem with my Pioneer. I haven't pulled it out to check my antenna connection, but I have no FM at all. Good thing I never listen to the radio, but it would be nice to fix.
Sean Forsberg
What type of antenna adapter did you use? I previously had an Alpine unit before this one and the problem was even worse. I read a post somewhere about a similar problem after upgrading because of too much/too little power being transmitted with the wiring harness. It was a bit over my head though. wannabang
That's a little interesting. I wouldn't think the resistance in the new wires would restrict that much power. I have the Pioneer unit with whatever harness Crutchfield sent me for free.
Glenn Johnson
I have the same issue after upgrading my '09 base model head unit with a Pioneer FH-X700BT. Used a Metra harness and a Metra Chrysler antenna adapter. FM comes in good but AM is very weak and tons of static. Do like to listen to the traffic, news and weather on the commute to work in the AM..
wannabang
Not sure what harness I used. Recently pulled out the HU, wiggled some wires, redid my steering wheel controls, and now my radio works great. Also have a stubby antenna.
