PrinzII
Does anyone with an Edge have an aftermarket sunroof?
wannabang
As in: did anyone cut a hole in their roof for one?
Edgieguy
If you have the option, I'd say do factory, although new sunroof designs are not like those of old.
PrinzII
wannabang: Exactly, Ā I remember seeing one at the dealership with an aftermarket roof and am curious about the durability.

wannabang
That's interesting. I wouldn't be comfortable enough cutting a whole in my roof. It's why I bought the car with the sunroof.
akirby
As long as it's a reputable company I wouldn't be too concerned with leaks or shoddy quality. The procedure itself isn't that difficult. Just check the quality of parts used and the fit and finish on the interior. I know a local dealer who never orders a moonroof stock and has them added by a local company. The biggest downside is it won't be integrated into the other car controls (global open, etc.)
Rockballer
Dang... Good find Dingo. Will be calling them tomorrow to see what soemthing like this might cost. They got a location really close by me in Canada. I like the option of both front and rear roof opening instead of just the front.
Dingo
They have many other designs. One is like the Pontiac one that's multiple panels for one opening. I've installed about 20 by that company, and never had a single problem.
Rockballer
What would something like this cost?
Dingo
I have no idea.
PrinzII
In my case, I would be more interested in just opening in the front since I have a roof rack. My guess as to cost of install would probably be $1500 or higher. Edited May 22, 2013 by PrinzII
Dingo
Probably right around that...
Rockballer
Little higher than that. 2000+ is what I have been quoted and that wasnt for the panaramic roof. was onky for dual sinroofs. Like most stuff in Canada sounds a little high compared to the US. Might call over the border to get some pricing.
