Bob C.
From the day I picked up my new, 2013 Sport, there has been a tapping noise from the engine bay. Fuel injector? I don't think so. Sounds more like a valve tap to me and just one cylinder. Dealer checked it out and said it was a fuel injector. I didn't buy that one, but the mechanic said everything is fine with the vehicle. Anybody have a similar issue?? Bob
Swatman27
I have had the same thing. It's just a quiet, but noticeable tap or click. I can hear it more when the engine is cold. I have also been told that everything is all good and it is just the injectors warming up and it will not affect anything.
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Bob, can you post a video? On cold startup, these engines can make some unsettling noises for sure, especially when it IS cold outside. May just be a question of very brief, inadequate lubrication, tho not sure. jmacd27
You could try and unplug one injector at a time and see if the noise goes away/changes. If there is no difference in noise, then you know for sure it isn't an injector.
Edgieguy
there is a TSB for this and its been talked about on the forum. My problem is that Im not sure I want my brand new motor opened up, something drilled out with the chance of some metal shavings going into the engine if its only to quiet a sound i only hear when outside the vehicle when its cold. My question remains, what are the problems with just leaving it be, on long term engine reliability?
