rsucre
Hi, I'm a new Ford Edge 2013 owner. My question is if here is a way to load international maps (i.e. central america, Panama, Colombia) into MFT/Sync. Are the maps in a standard format? Perhaps new maps can be purchased? Waldo
In a 2013 all the maps are on the SD card. All you need is the SD card that has the maps of the area you want. What card do you have now? The A card (A3, A4) is for US and Canada, the B3 or B4 card covers Mexico, but I don't know if it goes to Panama. There are also Edges sold in South America, so they must have some card available. Do you have a local dealer that can help you?
rsucre
The car came with A3 (US/CAN) and the car is from local Panama dealer. Makes me think official SD card is not available for Panama. Perhaps somebody knows of the format of the map file some kind of standard that can be obtained? Even from third party... Cellbine
Very interested about this. A lot of us here want European maps. Hoping that the new Edge release over here will bring maps with it. I have contacted the company partnered with Ford, that provides maps, to see if they have maps available and they said we had to talk to Ford about it. They aren't providing any maps Ford hasn't already paid for. That being said, if anyone figures out how to get maps to work that aren’t available from Ford, Please share! Waldo
Ford's system uses third party data, but it's all configured and coded in a unique Ford way - and licensed that way from the third party supplier. So you're not going to find anything else out there, unless somebody has taken the time to crack the code and produce illegal copies. But even then, it seems every time Ford updates the MFT software, it requires a new Nav card as the configuration of the data (not necessarily the data itself) changes. So that illegal copy would only be good until the next update comes out.
