Nazgul
Hi everyone. I signed up here several months ago and have been trying to learn more about the Edge. My wife (it'll be her vehicle) and I are about ready to buy and I have some questions. I have used the 'search' feature, with no luck. First, can anyone recommend a good dealer in the San Francisco East Bay Area? (I've also posted this in my local forum here.) We are in Livermore, and not too sure about Liv. Ford. We have bought two F-150's at Fremont Ford and have always been given good deals. A friend was happy with her used Explorer purchase at the Ford Store in San Leandro. I have sent internet inquiries and have gotten a mixed bag of answers. Mostly, 'here is what we have in stock,' and no interest in what we actually want. Second, I have searched dealer inventories using a link I found here. No one has an SEL with the SEL Appearance package in stock. And I found only 1 Sport. What is the last date to order what we want? (I found a thread on this forum with a link which says 'last date "TBD;"' any updates?) Third, we have a small travel trailer. I have read that the factory tow package hitch has a 2" receiver now; is this correct? Our preference would be the SEL with the SEL Appearcance package, tow package, roof rack, and maybe one or two other options. We do NOT want MY FORD SYNCH and a whole bunch of other options, but that is all I can find in dealer stocks (less the appearance package). So that's why we're thinking we will probably need to order. Any helpful factual info would be appreciated. Paul
JOEHIO
Hey Paul, You can go to website Edmunds.com, to price out a new Edge, and get online quotes from local dealerships. Not sure about the 2" hirch, any dealer should be able to help you out with that, and as far as cutoff date, I think it's sometime in spring, not sure when. If Freemont Ford has been good to you, why not stick with them ? We were with one Ford dealership for 19 years, then we got my wifes MKS and my MKX at a different (Lincoln) dealer. Lots of luck on your hunt.
ls973800
Welcome to a future owner, hopefully! Yes, the factory tow package has a 2 inch receiver. Sounds like your best option is to order one for the equipment you want or don't want. Good luck and let us know. Come back with any other questions you may have including final offered price for your exact vehicle.
Nazgul
Thanks for the replies. I've gotten the prices at Edmund's and Kbb.com. I've contacted three dealers. Haven't gotten a price yet. They all just want us to come and test drive what they have. Local dealer doesn't even have any in stock. My wife's employer has a contact who may be able to get us a pin number to get in on one of the programs, not sure which. But the contact is at a certain dealer, so we would have to go with them, I imagine. Going in to talk with him on Friday. Can you order a vehicle using the A or Z plan, or do you have to choose from what's in stock? Thanks again. Nazgul
Thanks, Dingo. I just found out it's going to be "X" plan.
Nazgul
We ordered it today. Will get 'DORA' confirmation next week sometime. Got exactly what we want without all the extras. Found out exactly what the difference in plans is, including Costco membership club pricing (excellent, if you want something from dealer stock). Used the 'X' plan; $141 over total dealer invoice. Eligible for $3500 in incentives, if they finance for at least 4 months before we refi at lower rate. SEL, SEL Appearance pkg, tow pkg, roof rack, equipt. grp 204A. Deep Impact Blue. Just like the photo at ford.com (blue grille/black 20" wheels).

Eligible for $3500 in incentives, if they finance for at least 4 months before we refi at lower rate. That has been discussed on other posts, and it has been proven to be a misconception (actually a lie if I want to be blunt)! I and at least one other member actually contacted Ford Credit and found out that you can refinance the very next day if you wanted to WITH NO PENALTY TO YOU! He financed within a week or two and I was able to get the dealer to match my credit unions 1.9 percent financeing by threatning to refinance their higher rate within a week of purchase. including Costco membership club pricing (excellent, if you want something from dealer stock). I had a dealer who was a member of the Costco pricing plan who told me I had to buy from stock also. I contacted the Costco atuo buying service and they said the price is honored on in stock, dealer trade or locate, or ordering. I did not end up having any other dealings with that dealer or the brand they were selling! Glad to hear you were able to order exactly what you wanted. Dingo
I don't know the deal on Costco, but the finance thing is true. If you keep the finance through fmc for 90 days from the first due date (4 months), the dealer gets a spiff. You can refinance any time you want without penalty to you. jstaubin
After telling the salesmen I bought mine from that I heard via the blogs it was not true that you had to wait 3 months (he did not say 4 as some others apparently were told) before you could pay off your loan, he came clean an said that it was indeed not true, but if you refi before 3 payments the dealer (not you) get credited back for your 1K incentive. For course the finance manager said they could come after me for the incentive if I paid it off not knowing the sales guy already told me this was not the case. Shady! Nazgul
The ordered Edge SEL finally came in and we picked it up on Saturday. See here for some pics: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/10698-any-forum-memebers-in-bay-area-nor-cal/ X Plan price never changed, $33,750. We financed thru the dealer at 1.90% for 6 years, better than our credit union. Going with 1.9%, the incentives were different ($2250 or so), but payment and total paid is much lower due to difference in interest (1.9 vs. 4.24%).
