taal2020
I recently bought a Used Ford Edge 2011 Limited Edition, 36000 KMS run. I am based in Dubai, UAE I have so far got only 13.5 mpg in the city. Is this normal. From what i have seen online in this forum and other site, is that most of the people are getting atleast 18mpg for the 2011 version. I also have a the SmartLock feature enabled, where i cannot exceed 130km/hr. Does this impact the mileage. Please suggest.,
omar302
That speed limit feature is part of the Ford MyKey system. It will not have any effect on the mileage. On the other hand, the slower you go on the highway, the better the mileage should be. Your mileage is bad, but, do u do a lot of traffic driving? Do u leave the runnin running while stationary? These will badly effect your milage.
taal2020
Hi, Thanks for your reply? I dont do much of traffic driving...I am based in Muscat, and traffic is much less compared to other GCC countries. What do you mean by running while stationary? Sorry for my ignorance. Can you also suggest how i can increase mileage like tuning the engine?
omar302
I meant keep the engine running. While you are stopped waiting, do you keep the engine running for long periods of time? Try driving a long road, like 10km straight at 90km/h, what would your average mileage be?
taal2020
The only time my engine is running while being stationery is when i am at traffic signal or roundabout...Like i said traffic in Muscat is not much..so I am not staying stationery for long. I will try the 10km 90km/hr test and see how much mileage i get

taal2020
@Accord, Mine is 13.5 mpg...thats atrocious
Limited59
Fuel mileage for any one person is going to be so varied because it's based on so many different factors. I think it's perfectly reasonable to see a range for these vehicles anywhere from 10 to 30 mpg as no two driving styles, vehicles, atmospheric conditions, fuel quality, locations, etc., etc. will be the same. It's also unreasonable to think that just because you have a 2011 Ford Edge Limited V6 AWD that you will get the same mileage as I do. If you're trying to get better fuel mileage, try checking tire pressures, air filters, make sure you aren't carrying around any unneccessary acoutrements, adjust your acceleration style, speeds, etc. Just my two cents. fishx65
13.5mpg!!!! If you're not drag racing, something is very wrong with your Edge!!! I would have to drive like a Lunatic to get my mpg's that low. I have never dipped below 19.5.
omar302
Where we live, in the GCC counties, we have extreme city driving. It is pretty normal in a single commute to accelrate from 5 to 60 mph 10 to 15 times for a short 10 minute drive.
taal2020
Is 13L/100 kms as per the onscreen.....is that normal?
omar302
Is that while driving at 90 Km/h? Straight line? I mean not going an uphill? If so, then 13L/100 Km is high. You should get 10 or less. You say this is as displayed, have you ever calculated your economy manualy to check if the display is showing correct info?
taal2020
Thats usually in straight line...But i highly doubt thats the real mileage....I will post soon the manual calculation of the economy level
2011edgese
Yup. I driveen thru stop and go heavy city driving for aweek and noticed a 12mpg on the 2011 edge. . Driving on high way thou. . I'm able to get 29mpg.
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Does the display have an option for Instantaneous Fuel Economy calculations? I had seen this on a GMC Terrain I rented earlier this year. Also, if doubts are serious enough, worthwhile getting codes pulled to see if the computer is seeing something awry. 2011edgese
It does have the instant mpg. But it's very sensitive and erratic. Only way to get a good reading is if you are on the highway and give it 2 minutes and it stays at a stay reading. Otherwise on city driving, it will Read between 10mpg to 99mpg.lol
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
I guess fuel sloshing around in the tank would affect the readings, more so on an instantaneous reading than a between fillups reading.
2011edgese
Just a update. I thought of the slushy theory. But actually I think it's super accurate and updates too fast. Maybe that's the issue. If I set it to cruise control, it settles to a number. But if you tap it it changes instantly.
Tacyon
I also have a 2011 Edge Limited AWD 3.5L .. and like others have mentioned if you're aggressive with your acceleration you can almost hear the gas tank make a "boobunk" noise as the fuel leaves it at a fast rate. 40k miles so far and my average country/city 50/50 is 17.8 mpg. If I drive it like my grandma (god rest her soul) I have reached 21+ mpg on road trips.
2011edgese
That's not bad I guess. I love the power! The sound! Love the car. I managed to get 29mpg straight Highway. To bad I do city driving mostly.
