Apesforever
Is there a homing procedure for the side mirrors? Whenever I press the 2 memory button for the seats/mirrors, the side mirrors go to some crazy position that's not even remotely close to where I had set them. I know I set the memory location right because the seat works perfectly every time. Only thing I can think of is maybe the home position has gotten skewed somehow. This is an 07 model edge if it helps.
Kitulu
You may have to reset your mirrors and seat into the memory. Position them where you want them, then press the "Set" button and then the "1" or "2" button. From the Owners Manual: Memory seat and mirrors (if equipped)This system allows automaticpositioning of the driver seat andoutside rearview mirrors, to twoprogrammable positions. The memory seat control is locatedon the driver door.• To program position one, movethe driver seat and exteriormirrors to the desired positionsusing the associated controls.Press the SET control. The SET control light will briefly illuminate. While the light is illuminated, press control 1.• To program position two, repeat the previous procedure using control2.A position can only be recalled when the transmission gearshift is in Park(automatic transmission). A memory seat position may be programmedat any time. The memory seat positions are also recalled when you press your remoteentry transmitter UNLOCK control and the transmitter is programmed toa memory seat position or when you enter a valid customer code 1 or 2on the keypad. To program the memory seat to remote entry transmitter, refer toRemote entry system in the Locks and Security chapter..Note: The seat will not travel to its final position if the key is notin the ignition and the easy entry feature is enabled.Easy-entry/easy-exit feature (if equipped)This feature automatically moves the driver’s seat rearward 2 inches(5 cm) when:• the transmission is in N (Neutral) or P (Park)• the key is removed from the ignition cylinderThe seat will move forward (to the original position) when:• the transmission is in N (Neutral) or P (Park)• the key is placed in the ignition cylinder
thirdgenlxi
And if that still doesn't work, the potentiometers in the mirror motors may have gone haywire. We used to replace them all the time on the 03-04 Navigators and Expeditions back in the day. They would go haywire when the memory recall was used or when put in reverse for the auto tilt down... they'd usually go to pointing all the way out and then still sit there and ratchet, lol..... they had no idea what their own position was
Apesforever
the potentiometer thing sounds promising. I'm pretty sure I have the settings stored in the memory location correctly, even using the doorlock keypad the seat goes to the correct location. but these mirrors have a mind of their own! passenger side goes out and up to the extreme point and drivers side goes out and down to the extreme points. Knowing a little about servo systems, I was hoping that the mirrors had just lost a "home" position that could be corrected easily.
Apesforever
Hey thirdgen, did you have to replace the whole motor, or just the pot?
