Handling

Recommended Posts

So I took the Edge out on the autobahn and brought her up to 100mph. Its not a huge deal but I have to say, it never gets old. Handling was solid at that speed and could have easily have pushed it past 100. Was a good little trip. Want to put a side note out there that road conditions were great and traffic was minimal.

Obviously driving laws are different in Germany (compared to the States), but what kind of experiences do you have? How do you feel your Edge handles at the top end of the speed limits where you're from?

Jealous of the Autobahn, I like pushing it past the speed limits when theres some open road, by a little more than a bit. I think it handles real well, even though I have the first gen. I've noticed that even at freeway speeds (65-70 mph) *unfortunately I don't live with Arizona speed limits* I don't get much pull of drift from the wind so it's easy to keep straight.

I can actually attest to the stability of an extended run in excess of 100 mph in my '07 Edge. On the entire stretch of I-16 from Savannah to Macon I pushed it up to the 111 MPH max numerous times and held it on several occasions at or above 100 for a while. Never did I feel like it was unstable or loose.

Glad to hear the Edge is holding strong in the earlier models too.

Wanna: Don't be too jealous of the autobahn, it isn't all unlimited like you hear about. I think most people that drive on it cruise at an average of 85mp or so.

So I've been told. Arizona's freeways are similar. Still wish I had those in the midwest, or rather any street that had a section that I never had to worry about my speed.

wannabang: Are you in my backyard?

Cellbine: Both Edges I owned have seen the century plus mark. The first Gen wasn't bad. It got better when I went to H-Rated tires. The current Edge does feel different than the first Gen but it does need something to sharpen the handling/steering a bit.

Not sure if I scared ya, Prinzll, but I took a vaca out in Scottsdale a couple years back and got to experience those highways on the way up to Page, Sedona, and back. I'll take that recommendation for H-rated rubbers when I get my tires changed out, thanks!

Not at all. Just curious. The H-Rated tires did help when it was hot out.
