buffaloedge
I would like to have my led under dash lights to work with the dome control feature of my edge in where the lights turn off and on when the puddle and dome lights do. I would also like to have the same led lights work off of a switch that I have wired to a spare fuse. This way the car can handle the normal entry and dome supervision of the lights but when I'm driving, I would like the option to turn just the under dash lights without turning the rest of the interior lights on. How would i go about this? Would I need a diode of relay on each positive wire to prevent damage to the lights or the existing wiring of my car? What type of size of diode or relay would I need and where should I place them?
Jeb_66
You ever figure this out? I can walk you through it if not. Pretty simple.
Dingo
I'd use a relay.

Jeb_66
If you don't use the second diode you'd be powering up whatever circuit you drew your 12v ignition sorce from everytime you opened your doors. (When the toggle was in the ON position anyway.) Depending on the load on that circuit the dome lamp circuit may not provide enough power to do that. That's why I included two diodes. One to seperate the toggle from the dome lights, and one to seperate the dome lights from any other circuits. You could wire that diode in either the 12v ignition wire OR the wire leaving the toggle switch to accomplish the same thing. Hope this helps. buffaloedge
Thanks for your reply, Jeb_66...Before I read your post I ended up running two seperate led strips under dash since they are super cheap and small. I now have those controlled by a toggle switch.
