Vista Roof - Doesn't close all the way???

Recommended Posts

Is it just my Edge or are they all made this way?

When the vista roof is all the way open and I tap the close button, it only closes about 3/4 of the way, then I have to hold the button to close it the rest of the way. Same thing when opening it. If I tap the open button it only opens 3/4 of the way, then I have to hold the button to open it the rest of way. And again, same with the sun shade, if it's open it only closes part way then I have to hold the button. But when I open the shade, it opens all the way with one single tap.

Is it just my Edge, or are they all this way?

This is the way it is designed. It leaves a small opening to get some fresh air.

You have to "hold" the button to close it the rest of the way.

Could it also be a safety feature so as no to close the vista roof on an unsuspecting finger?

It just seams idiotic to me to have the roof only open part way, or close part way. When I open the drivers window I push the button and it goes all the way down, why don't they do the same for the roof?

As for the sun shades, I wish there was a way to only close the rear and leave the front open. Having a 8 month old that loves to sleep in the car, but when the sun is directly over head I have to close the sun shade for him, even though the front passengers want theres open. Also when you 'Tilt' the roof the shade has to open. I had a '90s T-bird and Taurus that you could leave the shade closed and tilt the roof to vent. It was great for those hot summer days to let the heat out of the car, but reflect the light out as well.

I will agree on the sun shades. I would much prefer being able to close the back and leave the front open.

As to the one-touch partial-closing of the BAMR, I'm not worrying about it. It opens all the way when I push the button. If it closes 3/4 of the way when I push it again, so be it. I actually have left it open that small bit at times too.

Bigger things to sweat my friend.
