info came from the dealer, i knew there were other ESP options, i was thinking about showing the price from the Anderson and Koch site and asking if they'll match it, but with sales tax consideration, i'll just buy online, probably from them. does anyone know any other good sites to check prices and buy online? at least there's no pressure on me to do it by Friday, the day i take delivery.

i did have a snag with my $750 Private cash coupon, it expired last Friday, the day all this started, and my first post here about buying an Edge! Vehicle won't be at the dealer until tomorrow, finance guy said he will call Ford and see if it can still be applied, but it is expired and the fine print says "must take delivey from dealer stock" by that date. i am worried i am going to lose out on this, anyone have any experience or advice?

Well, after responding to this post with some ESP prices and searches, I have decided to pull the trigger and buy one for my 2013 from Anderson and Koch. I have been planning on getting one before my 12 months/12000 miles are up, and doing some checking around to help the OP convinced me I might as well buy now.

Anderson and Koch is $140.00 less than the lowest price I could find on line. They have listed $1660.00 for my 2013 Edge 2WD, 84 months, 100000 miles, Premium Care, $0.00 deductible. No need for me to pay the extra cost for an upgraded rental, just the $70.00 which is included in the quote for the first day rental coverage.

I am waiting on one reply to an inquiry I sent to one last dealer asking for their "discount" code before I call Anderson and Koch and buy it.

GREAT NEWS, and soon you will be "tooling around" in a sweet new Edge !

Congrats and enjoy !

thanks, Friday can't come soon enough!

since this has become my definative buying experience of the Edge...

my Ford Motor Credit Rate came in at 6.45% for a 5 year loan, I'll refi as soon a possible, I have for a 30 day rate lock on a 5 year used car/refi loan at Bank of America at about 1.6% but I have to make at least 4 payments to Ford or the Dealership (salesman??) will get charged back for the $1,000 Ford financing incentive credit. Much to my surprise my credit scores came in at 800+ to get these levels.

good show! Keep me posted.

I will probably do the same, I have to get through the vehicle purchase first, Then I can start the ESP buying thread, ha ha, for questions like "what does first day rental mean" is that only one free day, and "is the enhanced rental limted to 10 days over the life of the ESP" ?

Your credit score came in over 800 and they could only secure a 6.45% interest rate for you?

That doesn't sound right...

what can i say? this came from the guy that told me Ford only offers the ESP with a $100 deductable,

Should I put in a call to Ford Motor Credit? anyone have experience with that prior to purchase?

it's only for 4 payments, then i'm out

A thought hit me, because it's so cold here today,

is there any advantage (cost, warranty coverage) to having a remote starter dealer installed at the time of purchase, and if so what are the options?

Let's discuss....

Edit: after the kids go to bed I will be checking out the Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start forum

My wife and I both have over 800 scores and they are telling us 2.99% when we go to pick up ours next week.

It looks like either $3,500 in incentives plus the $750 private cash at 2.99% (current incentive plan) or $1750 in incentives plus the $750 private cash at 0% (my grandfathered incentive plan).

I'm also most likely going with the extended warranty plan from my insurance company. They offer a 7 year/100,000 "mechanical breakdown" bumper to bumper warranty that covers everything besides wear and tear items. Maybe call your insurance company and ask if they offer this and compare the cost to some of these other programs.

Remote Start - not sure on that one. We've never had one and our cars are garaged. If we lived in an apartment complex or a home without a garage I would say go for it and it is probably worth the extra cost.

Regarding the add-on Remote Start unit: Dealer-installed genuine Ford-Lincoln accessories are covered under Ford ESP.

If you are comparing Ford ESP to GEICO MBI, make sure you understand GEICO's process differences in addition to any cost differences.

I buy zero-deductible Ford ESP because of its simplicity and universality-- I drive to any Ford-Lincoln dealer and they fix my vehicle for no charge.

Every Ford-Lincoln dealer sells ESP and they know its claims process inside and out.

The same cannot be said for GEICO MBI and their universe of licensed repair facilities which GEICO says I should prefer after paying their $250 deductible.

Good luck!

Beware of extended warranty's other than Ford. About 4 years ago, my wife's sister bought a used Ford Five Hundred, took an extended warranty through the Ford dealeership she bought the car at, that was not a Ford one, some other company. When the throttle body went, this was not covered, cost her $1,300 for the repair, then a few months later, another repair was not covered, so another $900. These repairs would have been covered under Fords ESP warranty. Original warranty was $1,400, plus the 2 repairs came to $3,600 out the window !

Gotcha, thanks HAZ and JOEHIO.

I'll get the rate I would pay over 7 years from Geico and weigh that with the $250 deductable.

Just ran the numbers on Anderson and Koch along with Flood Ford. Flood Ford actually came out a bit cheaper than A/K.

2013 FWD Edge

Premium Care

6 Year term

$0.00 deductible

125,000 mile protection (wife drives about 21,000 miles a year)

First day rental - Anyone know how many days they give you a rental? is it up to 10 days? I know the extended rental gives you a larger allowance and up to 10 days.

Didn't chose the extended rental

A/K price = $2,010

Flood Ford price = $1,980

Haz, does it have to be installed before taking delivery to be covered (or before buying the ESP) or is it just covered because it's a dealer installed accessory?

After speaking with several Ford ESP reps in Dearborn, I've learned that Ford has changed their position on ESP coverage for dealer-installed genuine Ford-Lincoln accessories.

If an otherwise-covered item needing repair was not installed at the factory, then Ford ESP will not cover it.

I made clear to the ESP reps that the hypothetical Remote Start was Ford-branded and materially identical to the factory-installed unit, but was installed by a trained dealership technician.

The reps said regardless of the accessory being Ford-branded or not, anything not installed at the factory is considered a modification with an aftermarket/non-factory-installed product.

So, if anything is to be added by the dealer, prior to new vehicle purchase or after the original purchase date, make sure you know what the warranty period will be for the item, whether Ford-branded or not. Ford ESP will not extend coverage to non-factory items.

I regret relying on what is now an out-of-date ESP reference. My original comment on this topic was wrong.

ESP rep said First Day Rental coverage provides reimbursement for a rental when the ESP-covered vehicle is in for an 8-hour or less duration repair.

ESP rep said the 10-day maximum rental reimbursement limitation applies in the case of long-term repair actions, however, the ESP rep said the dealership should work with the customer on providing a replacement vehicle in excess of a 10-day duration repair.

Good luck!

I got my Edge last night, what a week it's been for me. I can't believe the first time I even drove one was Friday, January 18 ! Edge came down from Utica NY on Thursday night, got cleaned and prepped and registered and whatnot and was ready for pickup yesterday at 5 PM. I sat down with the dealership doc guy for about ten minutes and signed and signed, took a quick drive with the salesman who then gave me a tour of the Parts and Service areas, we Sync’d my phone and looked at some features and pushed some buttons I was not familiar with and I was out the door and off to meet the family for dinner in a little over an hour.

Fantastic! Glad to see everything came together finally for you! Now enjoy the new ride.

Steve, it really did, and like all the other owners on the Ford Edge Forum, I love it!

and my family and I think it is the most awesome color, Deep Impact Metallic Blue

The salesman was great (all through the process), he offered to have the Parts Department make me an extra PATS key, for no charge, they we closing and it was a Friday night. Will follow up with him on that next week.
