vt4278
I just bought the Ecoboost side skirts. I think they are a vast improvement over the stock skirts. Has anyone installed side skirts yet and have any information? I got mine used so I doubt they came with new hardware. Is it 3M tape? Can I just use the same bolts/nuts/plastic rivets, etc that I have now? Thanks
Edgieguy
I'm not sure I know the difference from the non ecoboost. I thought the Sport had the only difference difference rocker panels. Can you post a picture?
juanca85
Where did you buy them used?
vt4278
The ecoboost were designed for aerodynamics but you'd not think so looking at them. I hate how the stock skirts receed about 4 inches. You can't see them. I wanted a sport look without the huge wheels and harsh suspension. I was at the Ford dealer and saw the other plastic skirts. It looks like a little side step. They make the edge look bigger or a more full/complete look. I got them on eBay for 230 shipped used. Half what they go for new. Google pics of ecoboost and you'll see.

Mark94
Thanks for posting Edgieguy. I searched online and couldn't find a photo that looked different and thought the OP was crazy... The EB skirts look like they have a mini side step. I think I like them more too... Mark

vt4278
Matte finish just like the SEL. Just has a lower lip I'd say is the best way to explain it. So far no tips lol. I'm going to look at them tonight and see what I find out. That's my plan anyways.
Cruiser64
Keep us posted on the install and good pics before, during and after. I'm starting to like them more and more.
ls973800
I knew there was a previous post from several months back talking about the rocker panel differences. I had printed out some of that discussion because some partial part numbers and prices were listed by one of the posters. I found my print out and was able to find the post with information about the rocker panels. The parts, fasteners, and shipping would come to list $664.54, discount from the source quoted by the poster $466.92. I still would like to do this, but will have to wait for an eBay listing like what was found by V4278. Here is the original post I was trying to find with replies 10 and 11 having the partial part numbers and prices. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/11428-new-2013-edge-limited-awd-owner/?hl=%20rocker%20%20panel%20%20part%20%20number
vt4278
I'm checking into dealer costs now to install the rockers. I'll keep everyone posted.
Brock79
I have an ecoboost but never paid attention to it. I'm not even sure there is a step on mine, I will have to check it out in the day light tomorrow.
Brock79
After looking at them they definitely are different.
vt4278
Thanks for posting the parts. The Ford Dealer told me that they weren't compatible. ?? So I went to the lot, looked at both the Eco and non Eco side by side, and noticed the front molding is what's different. So after I 'educated' the dealership that it would work, I ordered two moldings. One of them came in. Which was a blessing because I can compare. A lot of non-enthusiasts will probably never notice. I noticed that glaring horrible lack of side skirt issue pretty much right from the start. The stock skirts are the main weak point visually on the vehicle. I can't believe the stock skirts were ever made, but almost half a million people bought an Edge so what do I know? Anyways, only one molding came in, so I could only install one skirt. So one side I have the old, one the new. And I have the pleasure of walking the vehicle and looking at the difference. And let me tell ya, there's a difference. A huge difference. I'd do the skirts before aftermarket wheels. Actually, I think the skirts make the vehicle look so much better I'm keeping my stock painted aluminum 18's (best wheels available for several reasons). The skirts make the car. Otherwise the side profile is just flat and short. Nothing stands out. With the skirt, the side is a good 4" thicker, and you have a nice 'character line' at the bottom. I had the dealer install the skirts, but when I looked at both, they do not use 3m tape. Just standard install for a skirt. This made a huge difference, and worth every penny. For once, it seems like I'm one of the mod pioneers....... for the 'Ford Edge SEL side skirt mod'.
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Cool! So now all we need is pix to drool over :hyper:
BeDevil79
Here's a pic of mine with the side skirts and one of a non-Ecoboost - sits much higher. These skirts are one of the main reasons I got the Ecoboost when I couldn't get a Sport, same as vt4278 I like the lower look. Also why I've recommended adding them to 2 other App Pack owners on here....! Edited June 9, 2013 by BeDevil79
Rockballer
Wish I would of gotten these rocker panels instead of the 3D side panels on my edge. They are cheaper but after you have them painted and color matched the extra prep work, your probibly looking at the same price. Except these look much cleaner. Now you only need the sport bumpers and it painted. Should look sharp if you get that done.
wannabang
Maybe they fit my '08... Hmmm.
BeDevil79
Forgot to say, they do work as steps also, for little people - our 3 yr old uses them every day, meaning my pregnant wife doesn't have to lift him anymore!
