dbunny
Would like to put snow cables on the rear tires of my AWD vehicle (12 Edge LTD AWD 18in All Terrain Std Tires) but the Ford Manual says to use the Front tires only. When I look at the Rear tires, there seems to be a huge amount of room in the wheel well compared to the front tires. So I dont get it. Why would Ford still recommend the fronts on an AWD vehicle? Would it still be better to put the cables on the rear on this vehicle? See photos attached of what I mean about front (the one with the strut tower) vs rear clearance. I need these snow cables (S Class) for the CHP when I ask for access to certain snow bound areas. I really would prefer to put them on the rear to avoid mishaps with the strut tower. Please advise. Haz
If inside clearance is a concern, here's a pricey alternative design that does not extend to inside of the tire. Also, a video on the product here Good luck! Edited January 11, 2013 by Haz
