JPDR
Bumping up this old thread! I have exactly the same question as renz09 - is it possible to put an engine cover (or "Upper Intake Manifold Insulator") on a 2009 SEL Ford Edge? The MKXs of the same model year have an engine cover, and it came standard on Edges from 2010 up. Would it be possible to adapt a 2010-15 Edge engine cover on a '09, given the engines are exactly the same? John Pastorini.
omar302
Don't have a real answer, but the 2011+ engine is not exactly the same,so not sure if the cover would mount. Note that for the 2011+ the engine cover is actually 2 pieces. You'd probably be better going for the MKX cover (2007-2010).
SunsetEdge
Check partscheap.com. Partscheap is a Ford dealer in CA that sells items like the engine cover. I bought an engine cover for my 2012 Focus SE from Partscheap. Their prices are discounted. Hope this helps.
enigma-2
You could also ask in the "LevittownFordSuperCenter" forum. They are Ford parts suppliers and members of this forum. Discounted parts prices too.
Waldo
You need to make sure you get one from an iVCT engine, not a TiVCT engine. So one from a 07-10 MKX would work, but one from a 11 Edge would not. Should also be able to look for one from a 07-10 MKZ, 09-12 MKS of MKT. Might even try a Mazda 6 or CX-9, but I don't think any of the Ford iVCT models ever came with a cover. macbwt
Why would you want to install a foam insulator on top of your engine to encourage additional heat to be trapped and heat up all your parts and coils? I donated my 2011 cover to the mice for bedding.

(Btw, it's real plastic in the Lincoln version, not the cheaper foam, in the Ford version). Shame it's not chromed, but hey, they have to hold costs somewhere. .... (Yes. I'm kidding). BTW, on my 09, it's listed as a "engine appearance cover". Edited April 6, 2016 by enigma-
Waldo
The foam cover is designed to absorb engine noise. The plastic one on the older Lincolns was just for appearance. Edited April 6, 2016 by Waldo
omar302
I can confirm that for the 2011, both pieces are made of foam. I would also think they're for sound as they are pretty thick.

Was looking at a 2016 MKX today. Thick foam *and* chrome letters. (I'm jealous). Darn, now where cam I buy chrome letters?
fishx65
Definitely to kill engine noise and the 2010 and below can really use it. I actually did an insurance claim a few months ago cuz the mice ate mine along with the underhood insulation.
