shumax
82,000 miles at this point on a 2007 AWD. The car pops, creaks and knocks going over uneven surfaces. What's odd? It's not in the suspension. It's in the area around the piller between the driver and rear passenger (where the seatbelt is located for the driver) and then up by the sunroof above the head of the passenger in the rear - right behind the driver. It sounds like something is shifting around and then there is a pop sound. I can't locate anything that is loose, but I also haven't pulled the molding off, either. Anyone have any ideas? The dealer charged us $50 to tell us they think it's the stab links. The noise VERY clearly eminates from the TOP of the car, not the bottom in the suspension. Not happy to be charged $50 to tell us basically nothing. Thanks, Shumax
railroad
Sounds like the body is flexing. If so, there is not much you can do, short of adding subframe connectors. To reduce the noise, wipe all the rubber seals around the windows and doors with Armor All or equivalent. It will not stop the flexing, but might reduce the noise. good luck. shumax
I tried the silicone trick and need to see if it worked. It's more of a pop noise than anything. That tells me something is flexing and then snapping past it's normal point of rest. Odd.
