idunno
I have a new 2013 Ford Edge SEL AWD equipped with MyFordTouch. I cannot get the extra standard SecuriLock key I purchased from Ford Dealership to start the car. I am following the instructions on p 81 in the 2013 Owners Guide. I have the two original integrated keyhead Transmitters keys which are stamped SA on the key blade. The extra key is also stamped SA . The service tech at dealership said the programming of keys no longer works in the Edges but I bought the key anyway just to give it a try because I like having the extra "cheaper" key to keep as a spare. Has anyone here successfully programmed a 2013 Ford Edge or other 2013 Ford using the documented procedure? If so, please provide any suggestions. Here are the instructions I am following. Do I need to look at any lights/info on the dash to determine if I am doing something wrong? Programming a Spare Integrated Keyhead Transmitter Note: A maximum of eight coded keys can be programmed to your vehicle. Only four of these eight can be integrated keyhead transmitters. You can program your own integrated keyhead transmitters or standard SecuriLock_ coded keys to your vehicle. This procedure will program both the engine immobilizer key code and the remote entry portion of the remote control to your vehicle. Only use integrated keyhead transmitters or standard SecuriLock_ keys. You must have two previously programmed coded keys and the new unprogrammed key readily accessible. See your authorized dealer to have the spare key programmed if two previously programmed coded keys are not available. Read and understand the entire procedure before you begin. 1. Insert the first previously programmed coded key into the ignition. 2. Turn the ignition from off to on. Keep the ignition on for at least three seconds, but no more than 10 seconds. 3. Turn the ignition off and remove the first coded key from the ignition. 4. After three seconds but within 10 seconds of turning the ignition off, insert the second previously coded key into the ignition. 5. Turn the ignition from off to on. Keep the ignition on for at least three seconds, but no more than 10 seconds. 6. Turn the ignition off and remove the second previously programmed coded key from the ignition. 7. After three seconds but within 20 seconds of turning the ignition off and removing the previously programmed coded key, insert the new unprogrammed key into the ignition. 8. Turn the ignition from off to on. Keep the ignition on for at least six seconds. 9. Remove the newly programmed coded key from the ignition. The key will start the vehicle’s engine and will operate the remote entry system (if the new key is an integrated keyhead transmitter) if it has been successfully programmed. Wait 20 seconds and repeat Steps 1 through 8 if the key was not successfully programmed. Take your vehicle to your authorized dealer to have the new key programmed if you are still unsuccessful. Wait 20 seconds and then repeat this procedure from Step 1 to program an additional key.
Rustytools
Hate to necrothread, but did you ever get this solved, I'm up the same creek Thanks
enigma-2
Thinking out loud, wonder if possibly you have reached the maximum amount of keys permitted? A real possibility if you bought the car used. Once a key is programmed it stays in memory until manually deleted.
Rustytools
If I am reading the display correctly, its saying it only has 2 admin keys programed, I'm not familiar enough with the system to know if it would display other (restricted) keys. maniac
Thinking out loud, wonder if possibly you have reached the maximum amount of keys permitted? A real possibility if you bought the car used. Once a key is programmed it stays in memory until manually deleted. I have 4 Admin keys programmed (5-button intelligent access key fob). I use 2 regularly, and 1 was supposed to be a spare. (1 other admin key was lost - I"m lucky I had 2 other admin keys already programmed) The spare worked when I originally programmed it following the procedure in the manual, but now it is not working aynmore (even with a fresh battery). I tried to re-program the spare with my 2 admin keys inside, but the programming did not work. It doesn't acknowledge the spare key is even there. Maybe it's broken. Or maybe it just won't re-program because I already have 4 admin keys programmed. Does anyone know how I can delete 2 of the admin keys (out of 4) so that I can re-program the 1 spare I have, and also maybe buy and program a 4th key again? thx
omar302
Once you reach 4 keys you cant program anymore. Also you can't delete any key yourself. A dealer only can do it or someone with the right programmer. I assume your talking about the intelligent access keys, not sure if the is also a maximum limit for the regular keys or if the maximum number of keys is the same. maniac
Shoot. I was hoping there was a way for me to delete 1 of the 4 intelligent access admin keys to make space for a new one. I hate going to a dealer for things that should only take a couple minutes. I guess I have no choice. Thanks.
factor99
You can supposedly add and delete keys using Forscan with an extended license. Edit seems only up to 2010s at this time.
