HIDS Help - DDM Tuning.

Recommended Posts

I installed my wire harness today and I think I was wrong about the orientation of the tabs in my video. I'm pretty certain the small tab is at the top or 12:00. If the small tab is always located at the top when the bulb is inserted, the return wire will always be be in the correct position and will never throw a shadow. To eliminate all of the struggles people seem to have with getting all three tabs in, the problem does not have to do with the thickness or width of the tabs. The problem has to do with the height of the small tab and not clearing the top of the slot. If you insert the two large tabs and slide the entire bulb downwards, the small tab will then clear the slot. Push the small tab in and the bulb should be firmly seated. Rotate the bulb until it locks in (1/4 turn). Here is a new diagram.

I just installed my ddm tuning 35W 4500K HIDs tonight. I got the bulbs in without too much time but it didn't fit perfect.

I am having the same problem as Robbn though. I have the finger in the same position on both lights. I put the bulb in exactly to match the housing.

Did you ever get rid of the shadow?

It's not too big of deal but if its not perfect I won't be happy so I will end up trying to get the shadow out of there this weekend.

The HIDs look awesome and I'm glad I went with the 4500K

Ok so I decided I couldn't stop thinking about it and couldn't sleep so I decided to go back out to the garage.

But I fixed the finger!!!!!

I took each bulb out and rotated it one tab clockwise. So as someone posted earlier, the tabs don't go in with the small tab at 6 o'clock, rather all tabs are rotated clockwise by one tab.

Now I am finger free. And the light pattern is perfect.

I really like the kit. I have had zero problems. I got the 9006 4500k set. No harness at all. Shipping took about 2 weeks.

Actually, after I installed it, and made sure I liked them, I order another set just to have a backup because it does take 2 weeks for shipping.

I also used Ddm on a previous vehicle I had and almost 2 ad a half years on the same lights and not one problem. I have since sold the car so don't know if they are still good, but 2 and a half years isn't too shabby.

I wouldn't go higher than the 4500k. Anyrhing higher has too much blue. I have the 4500k currently and have had 5000k in the past and would recommend the 45000k all day. It may be different for other brands but for DDM 4500k is the way to go.

Thanks, I was looking at them for my Fog lights. I have the night vision kit from RS for my headlights and its awesome have the 6K because I wanted a lil blue. I also had a hell of a time getting my lights into the housings and I have an 08. With some persistence I finally got em in. Something must be off on the bulbs or the housings are that much of a pain....
