916edge
So I just got the stock 22s off a 09 sport edge , and my edge is an 08 with standard 17 inch rims . Will I have an issue with the tpms ? The 22s have the stock Ford tpms in them. I haven't put them on yet ( still waiting for one to be deliveryed ) . Im guess someone has done this swap already . So any info would be appreciated !
ls973800
It is my understanding that the TPMS system is the same on the 2007-2010 models. They use a sensor which is attached to the inside of the wheel with a band which wraps around the wheel. They also operate on one certain frequency which is common on those model years. In 2011 the TPMS sensor was changed and it is attached to the valve core stem. It is held in place by the use of a screw which holds it to the bottom of the valve core inside the wheel. The system uses a different frequency (315 I believe) and that is different than the 2007-2010 models. The 22's from the 2009 should work without having to change anything. Your tire light on the dash might stay on for awhile until the computer recognizes the new/different sensors. When I replaced my wheels with different sensors, the light stayed on for about 15 miles and didn't go off until I was on a freeway and driving about 60MPH for a few miles. 916edge
Thanks alot ! I was kinda hoping it would be automatic , I just wasn't sure because of the new rim size . Wasn't sure since its such a change in diameter and all etc etc . Now I just hoping the ride isn't such so rough .
