PW25
I have a 2008 Ford Edge and when I roll the back windows down, the sound becomes really loud and distorted. It makes it so that I can't roll the back windows down it's that bad. What is the possible cause of this?

PW25
While they're going down and then the sound remains. I didn't leave them down for too long, probably 5-10 seconds, then I just rolled them back up.

Dingo
It's actually Helmholtz Oscillation.
akirby
it's called resonance For some stupid reason I thought the OP was talking about interference with the stereo system. It is resonance and it happens with almost every new car today because they're made much more airtight than ever before. It's like blowing on the end of a bottle - there isn't any where for the air to escape. All you have to do is crack another window and it should go away. PW25
Okay. I had a feeling it had to do with that. Seemed like the blowing of air and no where to escape. Thanks guys
