cmillz1331
Has anyone painted the ford big blue oval emblems black? I was hoping to paint it black but leave the chrome "Ford" so any steps or comments will help. Don't really want to spend $25 a piece on ebay... thanks

icee
I did go the route of the guy on ebay. I can't complain since the emblems look pretty good. Ā Match the new front emblem with black grille inserts, and it looks so much better than the chrome. Ā Body shop that painted the primed grille inserts screwed up - they were supposed to be Tuxedo Black metallic, but they did Ebony Black instead. Not going to get them to fix their mistake, so I'll do the next best thing: make sure everyone I know doesn't do any business with them. Ā The emblems actually match the Ebony Black pretty well, so I'm happy.
cmillz1331
I'm thinking about spending the money to get Ford to do the grille inserts for me.....still debating. Going to get a quote this week though

icee
I guess that some people really, really like the idea of a Ford emblem in black instead of blue.So much, in fact, that someone decided mine would look better somewhere else. WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Man, sorry to see that happen! Hope you will be able to get that replaced soon!
icee
Thanks. Ā I ordered a replacement from the guy on e-bay and it's already arrived. Haven't put it on yet - just have a feeling that someone is lurking around just waiting to get their hands on a *second* black emblem. Dingo
Use epoxy.
mclellan83
I wish someone made overlays that covered all of the chrome
icee
Use epoxy. I thought about that. Only issue would be that if the emblem is too hard to remove, the chrome surround or my black grill may take the brunt of it. Got lucky this time in that the only damage I saw was to the base the emblem was glued to.
