Mike Monaghan
& how is ur throttle response off the line? I have the Prozen on my 07 3.5 & it isnt so good. Ive tried every angle on the maf & it still bogs off the line sometimes. I dont plan on getting a tuner so wanted to see what else I can do. Im also considering selling the Prozen & gettin a k&n if if works better...
c_bova
without tuning an intake isn't going to do anything to throttle response, especially on a drive by wire type throttle.
Mike Monaghan
Ok still would like to see what everybody has & how they like it...
ARBO
without tuning an intake isn't going to do anything to throttle response, especially on a drive by wire type throttle. That's right. Steeda has CAI w/tunner & 3 tunes for the 07-10. SCT is working on tunes for 11-12's. I'm waiting.
KingMike
Any kind of power you add to your car you need to tune the car to get that power to run through correctly, especially with a V6. V6's aren't going to give you much off the line in general, so without a tune, you're not going to see a good response.
kc300c
I don't use CAIs for the performance improvement (real or not), but for the wonderful sound it puts out when accelerating. I have used them in my last three cars including on two HEMI 300c's. They worked and sounded great on them. But my ProZen setup I had on my Sport's 3.7L reduced the performance of the engine. I had it in for about 6 months and finally yanked it and re-installed the OEM system. I should hav e done it a long time ago. There are no more throttle response delays or hesitating and my gas mileage even improved. I'll live without the cool sound for now. When someone finally figures out a decent tune for the 3.7Ln then I will use one again.
EdgeRacer
I have the K&N CAI on mine and i didnt get a MPG difference but felt a better power change. I like that K&N include a dyno sheet with their product. So they actually put it on the truck and test it them-selfs. Or so i believe...
07lincolnmkx
I've got a Prozen on the way I bought on Ebay. It is $25 cheaper on Ebay than his website. I have an '07 MKX. So far, I am the 3rd buyer of his 6 avail. on Ebay right now. I will post any changes. I did have an SCT tuner. I used the stock tune and only saw a little mpg increase but really no extra power. I sold it on Ebay to buy my wife an early Christmas present. Edited October 23, 2012 by 07lincolnmkx
kc300c
Racer, do you have the 3.7L or 3.5L. Are you using a tune? If so, which tune? If not, does the K&N cause any adverse effects, like I had with my Prozen? Poor throttle response, hesitation during initial acceleration, etc? I hate not having a CAI
kc300c
07lincolnMKX, is the Prozen you ordered coming with the K&N filter or just the standard? I dint opt for the K&N filter. I don't quite recall, but the K&N filter was either a $25 or $50 adder. That may be why there is a $25 price difference between direct and ebay. EdgeRacer
I have an 08 SE 3.5. And I bought the CAI right after I bought the truck. I had it on ever since and i love it. Better throttle response and no problems, pluss a more agressive sound from the motor. Im not using any tuner. I plan on it after getting an exhaust installed. Hope this helps! ablb
Shouldn't they be called HAI instead of CAI :tease: At least that's what most of the newer ones look like to me??? ab
c_bova
typically if they aren't placed somewhere where cooler air would be it's called an SRI (short ram intake)
07lincolnmkx
The Prozen I ordered on ebay has a regular washable cone filter. I think the K&N was +$45. You are right, the one on his site comes with a K&N. I mainly used Ebay because they have the temp. BillMeLater promotion for 0% interest for 6 mo. for $99-$498 (ends Oct.). EdgeRacer
My K&N has a shield to help block heat but don't know how good it works. I live the intake though. Had it on for a year now. And it actually could use a cleaning LOL it's loosing its red and is pretty dirty.

mtbalser
Received and installed K&N CAI today, sounds tough and even the wife says sounds more sporty. Will see what if anything other than sound changes. Easy install about 1 hour.

UnfocusedEdge
Just ordered my K&N intake today. Can't wait for it to show up. Had anyone notice and mpg gains with this intake?
mtbalser
No MPG gains, but truck is driven differently in cooler weather(winter gas, remote start for warm up). Additional power hard to tell, sounds better though. No regrets so far!
