cmillz1331
This spot gets filthy in the winter due to snow and water....want to put some type of rubber pad or something there like some cars do already...but how?
JOEHIO
Too bad some company doesn't come out with an aftermarket foot rest. Say, maybe black with stainless trim? Edited September 6, 2012 by JOEHIO
cmillz1331
exactly...even all black with be fine with me...I just need something to put there so my carpet doesn't get filthy and stained....and I don't want to use the floor mat cause then it looks all f'd up
wlepse
Ours is dark so I don't notice but maybe check the coverage of weathertech or husky all season liners
cmillz1331
I will. I'm trying to think of a way to maybe cut a rubber mat and permanently attached it to that section....just don't know exactly how to do that once I take the carpet off
Scorpio
I'm surprised Ford didn't include a "dead pedal" in that area, would make for better comfort on longer drives as well as helping keep it clean.
rwolson
Husky All Weather mat comes up high enough to protect the foot rest. I tried the following in a Volvo XC70 I owned before the Edge. Picked up a cheap rubber floor mat at Wally World. I found tan one to match my carpet color for around $2.00; like I said, cheap! I apllied a couple of velcro dots to the back to mat and put into place, Remember, put the mat's bottom edge under your main floor mat. The mat held failry well and kept the carpet clean. My only concern, melting snow may trickle down and get under the main floor mat, but I never noticed a problem. A dead pedal? Great idea! I read a thread either on here or an Explorer forum talking about dead pedals on EBay. I looked the other finding many, but most required a bolt mount. You're correct, wish we found an OEM version. cmillz1331
yeah I mean a temporary thing like a small mat strip would be easy but a dead pedal would be perfect.....just another thing ford needs to listen to us about for future edge models! JOEHIO
I got the all weather (winter) mats when I bought my MKX, all rubber, and they cover the Dead area. Might want to check them out.

cmillz1331
oh ok yeah I want to add that dead pedal in there but that mat would help also. Is that from ford or like weather tech?
c_bova
mine are from ford, they included them Edited September 7, 2012 by c_bova

rwolson
Although the Ford All Weather mats cover the foot rest area, they're meant for people who don't see a lot of snow in the winter. Both WeatherTech and Husky all weather type mats "contain" the snow and ice keeping your carpets dry.
normcloutier
I have the same dealer mats in my 13 as C_bova. You would think they could have made a molded 1 piece instead of the stupid flap. Dirt and water always get in the space between the flap and the mat. cmillz1331
I'll look into weather tech mats then....thanks
